Has anybody DRILLED HOLES IN MUFFLER SILENCER???

I bought a muffler for my Galant 4 cyl engine. WIth the silencer on, it is
too quiet, with the silencer off, it is kind of anoying when stepping on the
gas when taking off, after that, it is fine at idle speeds. I was thinking
about drilling a couple of holes in the silencer to the the tone level
inbetween, can this be possible?? Thanks for the advice.
