It's probably screwed in and set permanently with glue. On my Maxima,
when I replaced the shift knob, I had to use vice grips (and some paper
towels so as not to damage the OEM shift knob) to get it to snap loose
from the glue. Once the glue let go, the knob un-screwed easily by hand.
