On my Maxima, when I replaced the shift knob, I had to use vice grips (and some paper towels so as not to damage the OEM shift knob) to get it to snap loose from the glue. Once the glue let go, the knob un-screwed easily by hand.

I got a '96 200sx se-r today and I want to switch the gear shift knob, I can't seem to figure out how to get the old one off. I am assuming it is factory. Any ideas? I don't see any screws, it is leather covering rubber. Thanks!!
