Yes, you'd be hard pressed to find a wierder car to bastardize.  Seems
hardly worth the trouble.   These "can I put a engine X in car Y" questions
come up a lot on usenet, and I always wonder, if you have to ask should you
be swapping engines at all? We put a man on the moon, so you can put a 350
in a Tempest somewhat easier than that (or a flat 4 subaru engine in a Ford
Ranger pickup, or whatever). Nobody ever does this swap, so it's not like
anybody has step by step instructions.

This particular car is a bit wierder than that, although I am claiming no
personal knowledge here.  I've never seen one, but the '63 uses the torque
tube and rear transmission, right?  So, all you would have to do there would
be adapt the tube to the chev.  It's your car, but I would personally hate
to see that happen...

If you replace the trans, it will fit.  IIRC The tempest Poncho uses
the Pontiac/Buick bolt pattern, not the Chevy/Olds pattern on the bell
housing.

I've got an 350 engine from an '85 Chevy Custom Deluxe 20 that I want to put
in a 63 Pontiac Tempest.  Will this work?

Thanks,

Brett
