this happened to me befire a couple of times and here was the remedy that
worked for me. lock all the doors on you car then enter the car physically
using your key this should take care of that.  this happened to me at a
crowded mall (embarassing as hell as you can imagine) and i had to call the
dealer on my cell phone and he instructed me to do the above.  this is an
intermittent problem that i have had for over 4 years now but at least i
know how to fix it. hope this helps fix your problem.

I can't stop my alarm from going off on my 1997 Pontiac Grand AM (5 speed),
2 door. I have ( I am pretty sure), a factory installed alarm on this car.
I disconnected the battery to bypass the alarm system but now it won't
stop going off when I reconnect the battery. I have already turned the key
to the run position and then tried to reconnect the batter, but it is still
going off. Can anyone help me please. Thank you
