If your starter will always turn the engine over, I doubt it is your starter. Unless it cranks very slowly. I had an issue with my Grand AM, 3400 engine, starting when it was hot. Sprayed generous amounts of Throttle Body cleaner in to the throttle body, lots of build up especially on the IAC sensor. No issues now, starts right up.
