I think every President has a reason to wear a vest in public. There is
always an equal opportunity for psychos to try and take out a Candidate. How
long do you think muslim fanatics have been hoping for a shot at the current
President?

With that said, I don't worry about any Presidents safety. I don't have the
time and more so do not have a personal relationship with them. Murdering
them would only make them martyrs... Most of the time, the real people they
worry about are the psychotic ones. The ones like those who kill for fame.

In any country. Which is exactly my point. This media story was a non story.
It is nothing we have not known about famous people and politicians for
quite some time.

Spend an hour browsing messages in talk.politics.guns, and then tell me if
you think there might be a reason for a black candidate to at least we
wearing a kevlar vest, and maybe carrying a sidearm and several extra
magazines on his belt.

There are some crazy fuckin' people in this country.

Blacks don't worry about Obama's safety, but the media has told them that
they do. That has to be one of the most silly stories lately. As if a people
somehow have a personal relationship with a political leader, enough to
"worry" about them.

I hope that no President is ever assasinated, but that story just made me
laugh. As soon as it was posted, you saw the boards light up with "We are
worried about Obama" posts.

This is just more proof that the media encourages everyone to feel a certain
way... creating a market for stories that they can sell...
