When i first bought my 04 Ranger 4.0 auto, i was getting 25 mpg on the freeway, now at 12,000 mi i am only getting 18 mpg on the freeway. I am driving it the same way as when i got it. Any ideas?

Any idea how to find out the rating of an old cast iron S&S Y629 worm gear manual winch? The thing seems hell-for-stout, weighing about 75 pounds, with big cast iron gear teeth. It has a 1/4 wire rope on it.
