Oil Info????21 Mar 2005 08:40 GMT33
Popped into my Alfa/Fiat dealer today to get a 5L can of Selena 20K oil for
topping up.
I didn't realise there was a Fiat version and an Alfa version of the Selena
20K oil.

Alfa GTV timing belt replacement.20 Mar 2005 15:46 GMT5
My 1997 GTV has now done 37,000 miles and I am looking to get the
timing belt replaced. Also, it seems to have a noisy variator (or
variator, not sure about the spelling) which was brought to my
knowledge by my nephew telling me it sounded like a diesel!
156 Front Armrest20 Mar 2005 13:50 GMT11
Ok, so not having seen one of these from new, can anyone tell me if it's
supposed to slope forward slightly when it's down or if it's meant to be
completely horizontal.  Mine slopes, thats why I'm wondering, cos somehow it
doesn't feel right.

Tomorrow I will return my chiptuned 2001 156 SP1 1.9 JTD to the lease
company after having driven it with much fun for the last 180.000 km.
Is it just me...18 Mar 2005 01:00 GMT27
...bright sunny morning, tooling down the dual carriageway at a
respectable 70 mph.  Very few cars on the road apart form a eurobox in
the inside lane (Pugeot/Citroen/Rover???) and a gold BMW 316 i
convertible in the outside lane overtaking said eurobox UNTIL he sees a

Happy Days Over Already15 Mar 2005 22:02 GMT3
Well, isn't it great, something gets fixed and then suddenly something else
crops up.  Tonight I fired up the engine (2.5 V6 156), and it catches then
cuts out.  I thought maybe I'd let the starter motor kick out too early.
So, try to start it again, and the engine is turning but ...

replies I got ( thanks , by the way ) all said " don`t do it - the roads are

Diesel Cam Belt Failure14 Mar 2005 21:24 GMT12
My garage is hinting that it might be a good idea (and I agree with
them) to change the belts at the 36,000 mile service instead of
waiting until the Alfa interval of 72,000 miles. I asked, and they
said that they've had plenty petrol cambelt failures before 72,000
