Does anyone have some input on where / what I should by (when the BOSE

I've had an old style 156 for the last 3 1/2 years which has just given
up on me (a week after the 72,000 mile service, new brake discs & pads
and a new battery - typical!!).  The bearings went and the garage want
£3300 for a reconditioned engine.  Seeing as the car is 5 years old

Ok, it's an unfair question but I have very little time.
I can buy a 1986 Spider Veloce for $5000 here in Arizona.  The outside
car is in fantastic condition.  The engine is not all that clean but
runs.  I have all the service records and the car had $4500 of repairs

I have a spare 1700 carburator boxer engine, that the previous owners took
the carbs of and then left outside, water has gotten in 1 cilinder and it is
not useable anymore without honing/boring and then new pistons. I only
bought this engine for the heads and it was cheap, but ...

My cruise control seems intermittent. ie it works sometimes and then after a
while it seems to just not work and the dash indicator light won't come on.
The only way to reset it is to stop the car,  take the key out and re-start
the engine and then all is fine.

Just in case there are any flat-four owners still in this newsgroup..

I have some problems with the wind when I drive over 80 km/h, it sound like
