147 Gear Stick Problem30 Sep 2005 06:36 GMT2
I'm having a problem with my 2002 147 1.6TS. The gear stick seems very
stiff. When in neutral, I really have to force it to move, its very
difficult getting it in gear, especially swithing down to 3rd, and it
generally is not feeling right at all.
Dellortos vs. Webers vs. Spica29 Sep 2005 22:44 GMT6
Owners in the States fret about 'gassing' the 'older' Spica fuel injected
models, e.g. 105's & 115's, and many have made a career of converting fuel
injected to normally aspirated modes & back again.
I thought it would be edifying to begin a thread to discuss the pros & cons

147 ABS/VCD Failure29 Sep 2005 20:37 GMT5
Hi, can anyone offer advice on an intermittent VCD failure on alfa 147.
Basically started out as the VCD failing at startup. The garage diagnostic
said yaw sensor failure (replaced). Car worked for 10 mins till first bump
in road!  I recently drove 1000 miles on it and the VCD ...
147 & other Alfa owners29 Sep 2005 03:46 GMT89
I am just after your advice.  I really like the 147 and think it is
one of the best looking hatches on the market.  I am interested to
know though if you have had many problems with your 147 or other Alfa
model?  And if you have had the odd issue, how much has it hurt you in
Yr 2000 156 Stereo28 Sep 2005 18:31 GMT12
Anyone have a standard 156 radio / cassette from a year 2000 car lurking in
the garage they want to sell?
I'm looking to get rid of the hideous nav system thats been fitted to the
Sele I've just bought and want a stock head unit to go back in.
Blown Engine - 1984 GTV28 Sep 2005 17:20 GMT1
Now that the rear calipers are functional, I move onto the next item, of
which there are many (or it wouldn't be an alfa, now would it).
My now ex-girlfriend was driving my gtv when I had a company car.  Little
petal didn't put any oil in it, so a conrod is now peaking out the side ...
I am a spannering god!28 Sep 2005 15:00 GMT3
Well, not quite.
However.... here's the story.
Got a phone call from the wife at 9am yesterday morning - the wiper
motor on her 156 had packed up when she was half way to work, and it was

There's no car like an Alfa!26 Sep 2005 16:16 GMT9
I have just decided to replace my 1999 2.5 V6 Alfa 156 and decided to
do the trawl of the "lesser species" in search of an alternative,
partly because the Alfa dealer in Cheltenham (useless, but the most
convenient one for me) shut up shop with no warning recently.  (Went
156 v6 Heating  / Air Con selector switch26 Sep 2005 12:21 GMT4

Talk me out of buying a 16625 Sep 2005 19:36 GMT45
I'm thinking of buying a used 166, maybe a '99 and almost certainly a
3l V6 auto. The problem is that I am rather scared of the costs
involved after I purchase. There's a baby on the way and I don't have
much cash so the last thing I want is a massive bill when something
British Motor Show25 Sep 2005 17:00 GMT12
Is there still a British Motor Show at the NEC in Birmingham each year
in August?  I've not been to one of these since I think it was 1999.
I'm sure I heard somewhere they stopped doing them in Birmingham?

Re "Top Gear":  Who is "The Stick"?25 Sep 2005 15:51 GMT15
I know that this is bloody olde hat to you Brits, but we Yanks are new
to this. I'm sure there is speculation in GB about who "The Stick" (Top
Gears' mystery test driver) is. My buddies and I speculate that he's
some British GP or perhaps rally driver. Maybe Jenson Button. ...
Corrosion Woes25 Sep 2005 14:39 GMT4
I just wondered what your experiences of corrosion was with Alfas.
My covetted S plate 156 is showing distinct signs of an uneven surface
towards the corner of the nearside rear passenger door. The paint hasn't yet
broken, but running my hand over the paint, there is a real ...
