91 164L questions31 Oct 2005 20:25 GMT2
I am in the process of switching a 3.0 bottom end, and have a few questions
on the rear head, does the oil pump drive gear need to be disconected, if so
where is the access.
where are the match marks on the cam gears, I can not see any.
V6 24v belt change interval31 Oct 2005 17:31 GMT1
Am I right in thinking that you need to do these every 36k miles?
I'm looking at a 164 24v at the moment, but it's done 104k miles, with
the last change at 60k miles.
Should I be budgeting for a change ASAP?
Turbo / Supercharge30 Oct 2005 11:56 GMT6
How much would I be looking at to stick either a turbo or a supercharger on
my 2.0 JTS 156. See if I can boost those horses from 165 to over 200.
Warranty is up at the end of the month, so the car is 'free'.! How about
insurance difference - anyone any experience of that?

noticed that the engine temperature around 60 C. I belive that the
temp.indication works ok because engine fan starts at around 87 C as
indicated. Is this temperature normal or I have to change a thermostat
Pulling left...28 Oct 2005 10:32 GMT6
Just got 2 new tyres fitted to my 2002 156 JTS. They fitted them to the rear
and put the old, partially worn tyres onto my main driving, steering and
braking wheels just in time for winter (not looking for a debate on this
though!), so they removed and replaced all 4 wheels ...
Argh! Decisions......27 Oct 2005 12:55 GMT4

156 Rear View Mirror26 Oct 2005 23:30 GMT3
I succeeded in smashing my  LHS mirror on a motor gate that decided to start
closing while I was reversing out!
After about 6 weeks, I eventually got a replacement from the dealer.
Fitting the new mirror wasn't too difficult - removing a plastic cover
HELP - smoke !26 Oct 2005 21:02 GMT6
All,
For about 4 weeks I've been getting a ploom of smoke raising out of the
bonnet between the bonnet and the driver side wing. This does not happen
all of the time, but tends to be when I've been quite hard on the brakes
147 JTD Engine management warning....26 Oct 2005 11:20 GMT2

puddles) - sensor problem?
Independant Specialists25 Oct 2005 16:06 GMT2
I don't need one at present but should the need arise it would be nice to be
aware of my local independant Alfa specialists. I'm in the Leeds area but
I'm sure that others could use such information for their local area. Does
anyone know if there is a directory or list available ...
undertray25 Oct 2005 16:02 GMT3
Off to local Desira to get a new undertray fitted on my 156 2.0 - its
hanging off and scrapping along the ground ! Poor thing has never had to
suffer them before.... but its a bit far to Royston just for this.
Surely Desira cant bugger up a simple job like this one.... ;)
156 tickover25 Oct 2005 15:16 GMT11
On the way to work this morning my 2000 yr. 156 2.0 TS refused to tickover.
As soon as my foot left the throttle pedal the engine died. I struggled to
work using nifty footwork and judicious use of the handbrake.
When I stopped to investigate in the car park I found that after ...
Oil Vapor Separator25 Oct 2005 12:34 GMT5
1989 alfa spider 2L desparately needs a new oil vapor separator ( another
location in the shop manual calls it a vapor canister) Have checked all
Houston local parts shops and another 5 on the web with not much luck.
None that I checked even had it listed and BAP/GEON has it ...
