Driving my 166 T-spark locally and suddenly there's a thrashing sound under
the bonnet.
First reaction, it's next door's cat been warming itself up on the engine

Hi, our Alfa 156, 2.0TS, 2002 is idling like a dog and the engine light is
flashing when revved over about 3000.
Diagnostic just says misfire on cylinder 1.
Spark plug? I sure as hell hope so.

I've owned Alfa's for a number of years and since my first alfa (145)
there has been alot of chat about the CAM belt replacements and worn

this link.
Interchangeable parts27 Aug 2006 23:01 GMT9
I have a 84 Alfa gtv.  There is an 84 Alfetta for sale.  How much of the
mechanical parts are interchangeable?  Is the engine/gearbox/prop
shaft/brakes and suspension the same?  The body on the gtv is really
straight, but mechanically not very sound.

Exhaust20 Aug 2006 13:12 GMT6
After having a  glance underneath my car recently, it looks like I'm going
to be forking out for a new exhaust before long.
Does anyone have any recommendations as to what exhaust I should be fitting?
I wouldn't be adverse to fitting one which improved the performance, but I

Bye bye Alfa16 Aug 2006 08:07 GMT6
I have finally had enough of my 156 v6.  It failed its MOT again (only 4
years old).  At least it is consistent with failing the 3 year MOT.
My local Alfa dealer quoted me over £550 to fix the problem to get it
through the MOT. After telling them to get lost I took the car to a ...

Can anyone provide input please?
Knowing when to sell a car15 Aug 2006 11:00 GMT7
Do some people have a knack of knowing when to sell a car.
Our 156 we have had under 3 months has just come out of the garage after
breaking down. It has had a new piston, various bearings and a camshaft. Do
they know or are they just lucky.
Alfa 156 brake lights14 Aug 2006 19:30 GMT19
Is it easy to replace the brake pedal switch (on a JTS)?  Lights tend
to stay on.

I've only had a brief look around under the wheel arch and can't see
anything obvious, but any suggestions of what could be the cause? Could it
Camshaft belt10 Aug 2006 12:58 GMT4
my 166, equipped with a 2.5 liter engine, is now more than
six years old, but has run only 46,000 km. Last week, somebody
told me that I should change the toothed camshaft timing belt
because, being so old, it could break some day. But since such
