Just taken my 147 to the local dealers Sales Prevention Unit (Service
Dept) here in Belfast. £655 for a back box and front pipe fitted!!!

2003 Alfa 147 1.6TS.
The rubber type radio controls on the steering wheel are losing their black
around the edges from frequent use. Apart from replacing them, an expensive
job, is there any simpler way of restoring them, paint etc: so that when the

My GT 1.9 JTD Distinctive is from 05 and came with the Bose soundsystem.
When I start the car after it has been standing for some hours, the sound
system suddenly turns up the volume very high.
Does anyone have similar problems or a solution?

My 75 has been standing for a few months awaiting it's appointment with
a restoration company.
I started it up yesterday as I needed to move it to get my bike out of
the garage.

I was looking for workshop manual for my 166 when I came across
www.workshopmanuals.co.uk. Does anyone know anything about this guy
whose name is Christopher Warren.
I downloaded 3 times the Alfa 166.zip file but it is corrupt. I have

it failed on the head lights been to low !! I've adjusted them up a.s far as
they go but still to low ! any ideas ??

My battery died the other day, requiring a jump start from my
neighbour. This also reset the CD player - and it has been asking for
the security code. I found this last night, and tried to enter it this

From Auto Express, the SMMT new car sales figures for January to
September 2006 compared to last year's -  Fiat up 64% (Punto, I guess)

My 147 1.6TS is now out of warranty. As the local Alfa Dealer has closed can
anyone advise on a substitute for the Selena 2000 oil Alfa recommend, as it
is not so easy to get hold of now.
I have been told that Castrol GTX 10w-40w is a suitable alternative.

Bought in May, has been in the garage in Aug for a piston & a camshaft and
again in Sept for a valve.
It has just been towed home again after the engine failed on the motorway,
