I am looking for a recent (2002 -2004) small to medium 4x4 such as Nissan X-Trail, Mazda Tribute etc. Can anyone recommend what to look out for. Do not intend to do a lot of 4x4, just enough to get into some of the out of the way camping sites.

Can anyone tell me what the go is with insurance when i go on my around australia trip? a standard policy would be based on claims in my addressed area, value of the car and my details but when i go away ill always be on the move... and what about river crossings, sand dunes, ...

I love splitties. Mainly because replacement tyres around 7.50X16 or 205's can be had anywhere. I've had my fair share of punctures, luckily only once with a new tyre. But as one gets older you discover a new phrase, "not fun". Also

Gets a glowing review in todays Canberra Times for its on road dynamics comparable to the Territory. Off-raod it is rated great too for its low range gearbox. I wonder if they ever drove the car, since all other reviewers say its crap.
