I'm about to take my first step into four wheel driving, and am looking

Any suggestions on how much I should be paying for one would be
helpfull.

turbo for hilux question25 Aug 2005 11:09 GMT2
I have to opportunity to get a turbo from a Mazda Brazo.  Can this be
used on my Hilux 2.8.  The turbo is a IHI (Hitachi) but i dont know the
model at the moment.
Will it be too small (or large) for the lux, or should I persue the install.
Runing out of Diesal25 Aug 2005 10:48 GMT13
Gees I am good :) For about the tenth time I have run out of Diesal and have
fixed it by myself (phew hubby doesnt have to know everything!) When I first
konked out in our original Hilux in 1984 it took me hours. I was up bush,
had a jerry in the back but am one of those silly ...
Beware of the deceptive long range tank - not so long range.25 Aug 2005 01:52 GMT5
We recently put in a long range tank after a lot of thought and research we
settled on a 124 lts one because we were told by the Off Road shop that only
their tank actually let you use all of the 124lts. WE asked around, did the
homework then paid a ridiculous price for it. It is ...
Hilux Surf stabiliser/chassis bracket snapping...25 Aug 2005 00:39 GMT5
Recently bought a Hilux Surf (1994 3lt, with 40k on the clock).
Noticed a stabiliser bush on the driveway this morning. The bracket to
the chassis has snapped --  the driveway is not a particularly rough
track and has one short relatively steep bend, but nothing that the
How fast on the corrugations do you drive?23 Aug 2005 08:53 GMT39
After a recent holiday in the western Gulf of NT and back through some
rougher roads we wonder what peoples thoughts are on the speed to travel on
the corrugations.
I am a female, and I firmly believe there is only one speed on those roads

Have recently come back from a trip into the NT. Did some great walks around
the "Lost cities" where we just made our own way as they are remote National
Parks in the Limmen Bight area. We booked to do the Katherine Gorge to Edith
Falls 5 day hike - what a disappointment. We ...

The grey nomads.15 Aug 2005 01:34 GMT15
We have recently done a trip across to the NT, had a great time as long as
we stayed off the main drag. The amount of people out there these days is
just incredible compared with a few years ago. Most were well over 60, in
brand new 4wds - vehicles like $80k plus Landcruiser ...

Don't bother if you've got dial up.
Very clever stuff.
Stupid diesel question....11 Aug 2005 11:48 GMT2
Does a diesel engine have carbon monoxide gas comming out the exhaust pipe?
I have driven diesels since I was 10 years old and never thought about it,
until I was working on my 60 series exhaust today.
Curious!
