Cold starts for HI-lux diesel30 Nov 2006 12:02 GMT10
I own a 1988 Hilux diesel which I recently imported from Japan to the
west coast of Canada.  This is our banana belt so we don't have
extreemly low temperatures but in our first cold snap the truck would
not start without getting a jump from a running vehicle.  As I will not
Barnsey: Picked up your radio26 Nov 2006 23:27 GMT15
barnsey,
I finally got over to see the neighbour Saturday, and picked up the HF radio.
I'll take some pics of it tonight, and send them to you, if you can shoot me an
email address.  It looks to be in good nick.
Fridge Timer26 Nov 2006 05:42 GMT22
Is there any such thing as a 12v timer, similar to a turbo timer, that will
keep something running for a preset time once the vehicle is turned off?
I am thinking of something like this for my fridge (Evakool RF47).
I have it in the back of the Landcruiser and it comes in great for ...
Test Drove the new Prado Diesel25 Nov 2006 05:15 GMT5
The specs say 127kW and 410NM.  That brings their diesel up to date with the
Pathfinder, on paper at least, but still lacks against other like-minded
4x4s.
The test drive was pretty much as expected.  Same old Prado in every other

Camper trailers.20 Nov 2006 18:40 GMT25
I am now looking for a good camper trailer.
I want one that takes next to no time to set up, so I am thinking one of
those Jayco Outback series models or a hard floor camper trailer like the
Cub or similar.
Build your own camper trailer?19 Nov 2006 09:10 GMT18
Has anyone done it?
How hard?
I look at the prices $15-23K for a new one and having plenty of free
time atm, start to wonder that if I am prepared to do away with the
Did Barnsey do it?18 Nov 2006 22:30 GMT2
News item on ABC Radio National this morning : - "The historic
Einsleigh hotel was narrowly saved from burning down last night by an
out of control grass fire. Several sheds and out buildings were
destroyed, but the pub is safe."
Mazda Tribute downhill performance16 Nov 2006 21:52 GMT30
I was considering buying a 2001 Mazda Tribute Classic to tow my
camper-trailer.  I have some real reservations about the downhill
control of this vehicle as there doesn't appear to be any low gear
lockdown or engine braking with its auto transmission system.
Xenon lights?14 Nov 2006 12:19 GMT48
Are the blue xenon replacement bulbs worth getting or fitting spotties
better?

I've just bought a demo Nissan Pathfinder and the After Market Manager
heavied my about spending a huge amount of money for paint protection and
fabric protection.  I'm resisting until I can find out more about them.
Are these worth the money?  Any experience with these ...
