I hope the author won't mind my snatch-and-repost of the following:23 Feb 2005 03:58 GMT110
The right not to show your licence may be hard to enforce in practice. The police cannot ask to
see it without a valid road-traffic purpose, and I do not believe that that would include
checking that you have one, but the average cop probably thinks he has the power to demand it.
NSW Speed Cameras under question23 Feb 2005 00:51 GMT59
The infamous Spit Hill Cameras have come under fire from the STA as a driver
of a bendy bus got snapped doing 87km/h (in a 60 zone).
Anyone who knows this road will tell that it is physcally impossible. An
empty bendy buses will max out at about 80km/h on the flat, yet this was up ...

Anyone know their chargers?22 Feb 2005 23:43 GMT9
I am still thinking of buying another Charger.  The problem is I want a VH
but I can only seem to find later models.  Does anyone know if a VH front
will bolt up to a later model body?

Article in Herald22 Feb 2005 18:10 GMT3
I saw an interesting article in the herald today about speeding fine revenue
in victoria. I haven't got it in front of me but this is what I could
rememeber. It pretty much shows the vic govt is plain revenue raising. We
issue twice as many speeding tickets as NSW despite having ...
Mazda 626 fuel Consumption22 Feb 2005 11:37 GMT2
My 1994 Mazda 626, 4 Cyc, Fuel Injection; Automatic Transmission consumes 40
litres of fuel for a distance of around 440 kms.
I have read an advertising somewhere that a new Daihatsu Charade does 100 km
for around 6.7 litres. So, I guess for old car mine is fairly efficient.
RACV membership - free tank of petrol??22 Feb 2005 09:17 GMT11
I read somewhere that apparantly if you're stranded and have run out of
petrol, RACV will provide 1 free complimentary tank (as part of the
membership)?  This got me thinking - why wouldn't you purposely run out of
petrol, to get the free tank?  That's gotta be worth over $50, ...

cops with guns?22 Feb 2005 06:48 GMT89
Anyone got a police scanner and can tell me what's going on in Brookvale NSW
right now?
I have fully armoured cops with guns hiding in bushes outside my house. All
the roads have been blocked off and no-one's coming in or out....

Ahhh the SV6.22 Feb 2005 06:28 GMT69
Well, after me complaining about the engine rattle at first cold start
each morning, Holden finally decided to have a look.
They kept the car for 2 days so that could let it sit overnight and do
a morning start.
