Vacuum leak...fixed!20 Feb 2005 02:14 GMT5
Hey all,
I had a look at the heater control knob on my commodore and notice that
in the cold position, the switch wasn't fully depressed. When I turned
the engine off, I could hear a slight hiss coming from the switch. I

H/way patrol using a Falcon ute pursuit car.20 Feb 2005 01:00 GMT8
Noticed the HP are using a white Falcon ute (they'd pulled over a guy in a
Holden ute,...a message there?) with what looks like 16 or 17" mags. Is this
common in the smoke?
Didn't get to see which model it was......but it sounded like a 6 cyl.

VL brake booster shot ?20 Feb 2005 00:28 GMT16
When I apply the foot brake, I get the vacuum sucky noise in the footwell of
the car, and no power assist on the brakes.
Is this likely to mean I need a new booster - or is the booster itself
serviceable ?
Immobiliser / starting problem - AUII XR819 Feb 2005 22:03 GMT8
I have a problem starting my XR8 and it appears to be related to the
SmartLock system. The behaviour is as follows:
When starting the car, turning the ignition to the "on" position shows all
the normal array of waning lights on the dash, including the SmartLock logo
OT obscenity F**k19 Feb 2005 20:34 GMT23
Word History: The obscenity f.ck is a very old word and has been considered
shocking from the first, though it is seen in print much more often now
than in the past. Its first known occurrence, in code because of its
unacceptability, is in a poem composed in a mixture of Latin ...

Goes something like this:
bloke walking into his local Toyota dealer, chanting to himself (like he's
there to buy some cars for his company):

VR S Commodore steering19 Feb 2005 17:34 GMT4
Anyone got one of these cars?
In the owners manual it talks about tilt/telescopic steering. I can
get it to tilt no worries but as for moving in and out, not a hope.
This particular car is a series II, if it matters any. It's a nice car
KE Laser water pump replacement19 Feb 2005 16:57 GMT2
I have just replaced the water pump in a KE Laser and have a few questions.
As I did not have the luxury of working on the engine out of the vehicle, I
have left the plastic cowlings that normally go over the timing belt off -
is this a problem?

Athol - brief question19 Feb 2005 03:04 GMT21
Better, older, *reliable* 2WD ute, with canopy for sleeping
out, and kit to go all bush roads. Probably with "locker" and
maybe a lift kit?
What's your thoughts thanks?
Are all Holdens noisy?19 Feb 2005 02:21 GMT13
The VZ's V6 doesn't struggle at all with the all-wheel-drive system.
But, and it's a big but, Holden still has problems with the driveline.
We drove three Adventras that had annoying noises in the transmission,
including one that sounded as if the differential was failing. Not
