M20 woes...arrggh!12 Oct 2006 15:00 GMT1
After completing my shiny new 308 I decidied that I'd replace the tired
old 3 speed box with a 4 speed so I picked up an M20 that appeared to
be in super good condition - ther gears look like they have never been
used, the synchros don't look fractured and the oil is clean and not

Are small Euro cars more expensive to service than Jap cars?12 Oct 2006 08:55 GMT23
I'm tossing up between a Euro or Jap for a small car and servicing costs
could be the tie breaker. Can anyone share their experiences with either?
Alternatively, is there a website out there that will outline what the
estimated servicing costs are for various cars? Cheers.
Poor truckie (pics)12 Oct 2006 06:30 GMT21
Because this bridge is on an angle with the road it always pushes trucks
over when they hit it (as can be seen by the many previous battle scars on
the bridge). This poor bloke almost got killed as his roof got crushed in.
There wasn't much head room after this. The pic isn't the ...

Time to replace the`91 626 with a somewhat more modern reliable (Not that
the Mazdas been unreliable) family sedan.
Im looking at either a 01-02 Liberty RX, 05 Camry Altise or (and I know this
will stir a few posts) an 05 Magna.
Trailer wiring.11 Oct 2006 16:09 GMT6
I've been given a 6x4 box trailer for free. The guy had it sitting for 10
years in his back yard.
Anyway, it's structurally sound, and only needs a couple of tyres, and some
new wiring. The existing plug has been torn off, and the existing lights are
re: used car purchase11 Oct 2006 12:01 GMT6
Okay, most are saying go for the Subaru. Exactly how reliable are they. Ive
driven a few Turbo Legacys in NZ and only two Libertys here.  One was last
night and it was gutless wonder but the previous was okay.
My point is, the Subarus for my money are going to be 2000/2001 RX models
Bathurst is too high tech.11 Oct 2006 11:23 GMT41
All of the technology that modern race teams employ has made motor racing a very dangerous and
somewhat boring sport.  It is high time they dump the computers and 300 kph vehicles and go back to
something resembling cars the average punter can actually purchase.

Gotta be happy with that.

Getting a Camry Manual tranmission - bad idea?11 Oct 2006 05:13 GMT22
The superseeded Altise model, got it down to the $22,800 mark for an
altise limited. Only concern was this:
* The gearbox would be almost near impossible to get 10-12 years down
the track if it screwed up.
