ACT Govt taking on tailgating25 Jun 2007 21:55 GMT23
Noted in my local paper yesterday that the ACT Government has taken
out ads against tailgating - which as many here will know is something
of a problem in Canberra (although not helped by the number of people
who drive slowly in the right lane).
Anyone for Shell e10 fuel?25 Jun 2007 21:42 GMT2
Tried some in my Holden VY 5.7 - has replaced the unleaded 95 in Sydney it
seems.
The car appears to accelerate well but wife reports a slightly rough idle.
Can't really pick it myself - maybe due to the fuel?

Plastic cars25 Jun 2007 14:25 GMT12
I don't care how much people rubbish plastic cars when you ramp over a

nice stinking coating of blood, guts and hair on the exhaust and other
under body parts

Motor bike riders25 Jun 2007 11:53 GMT60
A group of 8 bikers riding Jap road bikes overtook me on a single lane
highway with islands on the right and a bicycle lane on the left a couple of
days ago.
Four waited until it was safe to overtake on the right and did so safely and
Ant:  What is your problem?25 Jun 2007 10:19 GMT20
On several occassions you have accused me of stalking, not you as it
was.   You feeling left-out?  What is your problem?  Just because I

Smoke Haze in Newcastle25 Jun 2007 10:06 GMT6
was cruising down Hunter St in me hot BA with chrome reverse grease
nipples and twin overhead foxtails when up ahead in the traffic jam I
see a large cloud of blue smoke rising from the line of cars
slowly made our way towards it and when I saw it I had a little chuckle
Stuffed Glowplugs?25 Jun 2007 09:59 GMT21
My diesel Toyota van wouldn't start this morning (it was only 1 degree).  Started fine later on when the weather warmed up.
I suspect the glowplugs are rooted.  How much do they cost to replace and it is a simple job or one best left to a mechanic?
Thanks.
parking bays - any standards?25 Jun 2007 09:26 GMT17
Does anyone know if there is an Aus standard for the dimensions of kerbside
(parallel) parking bays?
Our local dimwitted council has just remarked the local high street after
resurfacing, which in itself is good except:

Was talking to a mate yesterday..25 Jun 2007 05:10 GMT43
Who works in the car industry.  He has a mate who is an after sales consultant.
Normally discussed here as the chick with the big tits who sells you window
tinting when you buy your new car.  He was saying that the guy is pulling in
$20k a month in commisions.  I nearly fell over ...
Sunroof - talk me out of it?25 Jun 2007 03:10 GMT35
"*Aftermarket* sunroof" - words that seem to invite derision and
horror!
But I had an a/m sunroof many (many!!!) years ago and it never leaked
(10 years plus), wasn't used to break in, and it was marvellous - let
Stripped thread in 350 chev25 Jun 2007 01:23 GMT16
I was tightening the head bolts on my boat's 350 chev (or 327 or 307,
could be anything) with a brand new torque wrench and it never
'clicked' when it reached the correct torque, so silly me just kept
turning until the thread stripped (i only did this on one bolt until i
