odometer swap to be larger km, not miles?24 Jan 2005 12:43 GMT1
Ireland recently switched the speed limit signs over from being based on
miles per hour to kilometers per hour.  There are tricks to convert the
speed in your head so you can quickly look at the odometer to check your
speed.

new 1989 coupe owner - couple of questions22 Jan 2005 00:20 GMT3
I'm the proud 9th owner of a 1989 coupe 2.0e (UK), & I like the car,
though predictably it's got a couple of issues:
1. Once the engine has warmed up, the revs pulse at idle, between 900
& 1100 rpm, about once a second. Funnily enough, my last bmw did a

A big Hello to all the AUDI owners;
I have a 1996 A6 Quattro sedan and I was wondering if any aftermarket remote
door unlock systems are available and how much of a job would it be to
install it.

How hard is it to replace the fuel pump on a 86 Q5000S?  Also what is
the difference between the Bosch and Pierburg fuel pumps?
CV joint on Audi A618 Jan 2005 09:02 GMT14
My low mileage 1999 Audi A6 has recently developed a noise coming from
the front end.  The noise sounds like grinding and banging and only
occurs when on full right hand lock (turn).
My guess is that it is a CV joint. Can anyone tell me how to confirm

outdoor air temperature gauge problem18 Jan 2005 00:54 GMT3
Has anyone had a problem with their outdoor air temperature gauge
going haywire?  My 98 2.8 A4Q with 83k miles just started doing this:
I drove in freezing winter weather along the Great Lakes to Akron,
Ohio, on Christmas Day and then ran the car through a car wash so I

For those who own one what is your opinion and what do you think it is
1992 Audi 80 2.0E - ticking when warm17 Jan 2005 18:01 GMT10
My Mrs has a 1992 Audi 80 2.0E (115hp if memory serves, with fuel
injection). At cold start it runs fine and smooth. When at normal warm
temperature, it sounds a bit rougher and there's a persistent ticking
sound that changes tempo with rpm. The engine runs evenly and
Locking A417 Jan 2005 15:06 GMT4
Parked in a multistory car park recently and locked car  using remote fob.
Lights flashed to confirm the car was locked and I went about my business.
Came back an hour later and found that I had not closed the driver's window
after I collected my car park ticket.
remote unlock17 Jan 2005 13:53 GMT6
A4 but it matters not I think,
I had terrible problems activating my remote unlock a few days back. Ended
up pushing car into my industrial building and shutting the door before it
would deactivate. Fob had new batteries fitted.
