do you drivers in the colder (-5C and more below) countries put a thinner
oil in your gearboxes.
In Hampshire UK we were -7C (yea I know it's not that cold) this morning and
my auto box was noticeably not changing into 5th very often.

Do you have to get these from the dealer or is there a better way to
fasten the bottom engine shield? TIA.

I really wish that the ignition key receiver was lighted - particularly
with the nice red LED glow that everything else in my '99 A6 has.
Has anyone rigged up or seen something to do this.

I recently lost reverse completely, 5th gear very very difficult to get.
Also 1st and 2nd are difficult but useable.
3th and 4th are easy.
Shift pattern is gone (no problem to go from 1st to 3th straid)

Just recently bought a 2001 A6 , 2.5v6 TDI
Have been advised that it will need a cam belt done around the 79,000 mile
mark
The local Audi dealership say the job will cost me ?400 as there are 2 other

2003 A4 3.0 Cab. with just under 30k miles. Last week reverse just
disappeared. I met another local owner of the exact same car, including the
color. His transmission was replaced at 30k miles. Is there an issue with
these cars?

Those with longer memories may recall I posted a while back asking about
tyres for my A4 (specifically whether I could fit 225s on the standard
16" alloy rim).
In the end I decided to stick with 205/55s, and have now replaced all 4

Are there chips for the A4 3.0 or are they only for the turbo?

I read the replies to my previous post, but no one was able to tell me what
the name of the button was that I pushed and what it's purpose is.  Could
someone give me some help on that.  By the way, I didn't reset the
tripometer while I was driving, when I pushed the button next ...

I have a 2000 540i, and am looking to upgrade.
It looks like a dead heat between the 05 545i and 05 A6 4.2.
BMW has put me in such a difficult position with their pricing, body
design, and iDrive.
