Fix for Scotch-Brite scratches on clear coat?25 Aug 2004 14:34 GMT12
I paid a high school kid to wash my '97 bronze Avalon and he used a
Scotch-Brite to work on some bird doo-doo spots. Now I see patches and
swirls of light scratches from the pad.
Is there a fix for this? Buff it out with jewlers rouge or some such?

When I turn the switch on to the parking lights the parking lights turn on.
(i.e the steering column switch)

A friend of mine gets really bad gas mileage on his car - perhaps half
of what's in the manual or what consumer reports measured for his car.
Is this a possible sign of a major problem?

I have just changed the alternator and tried to start the car.  It would not
start until I placed my foot on the gas.  It started fine at that point and

Does anyone out there know how replace the hydraulic cables that power
the hood up and down?
The compressor unit is in the boot and various hydraulic cables are connected
to it. I have 2 new cables (at some exhorbitant cost from Renault - 127 pounds

My '91 Ford Explorer is having some transmission problems.
I noticed over the past couple months that when I shift from 'park' to
'O' that it took the transmission a second or two to engage instead on
engaging instantly.

All 4 tires on my 99 Pont Grand Prix GTP are just about used up. I
will be replacing them in Sept. I am in Syracuse, NY. Last year was a
snowy, slippery winter. I was all over the road.

I have been taking things apart for a long time. Cars,x-ray machines,electronic
gear and just a lot of things BUT I have never run into a screw or bolt that
needs a square bit to tighten or loosen. Can anybody tell me where do they use
these contraptions?
