One of my friends was telling me that you can remove the resonator (aka Bong) from the air intake tube in order to get a deeper throaty sound from your exhaust. Is there any disadvantage to this (ie poor gas mileage, shorter engine life) or is it without consequence?

Youve helped me in the past + I need help again. I have a 89 honda accord LX, and it runs great --- except in the rain. When I hit even a small puddle something (probably underneath) seems to get wet and the whole system shuts down. After about 10 minutes it starts back up
