I tore my distributor apart to change the pickup coil.
On the base there is the gear, and an inch or so there is a ring that
gets a roll pin (looks like a donut with a ridge on it.)

I'm thinking about doing this myself at home.  Is it possible to jack up the
engine from underneath or do you need to remove the hood and pull it up?  Is
there a decent online diagram or instructions?

a friend (who happens to drive a stick) was driving my Highlander  ( w/AT={P
R N D 3 2 L}) , shifted the shifter forward from (D)rive maybe up through
into (R)everse and then back down into Drive while car was moving/coasting
at about 10-15 Mph

This morning, I went out to start my wifes car, it cranked two or
three times, I let off, then went to crank again and there was
