E39....What typically needs repaired the first 100K miles02 Mar 2004 15:29 GMT8
So far my thermostat has failed twice and I've had a leak in the power
steering system.    What other items fail at above average rates?

E46 M3 partslist02 Mar 2004 11:22 GMT8
Need a microfiche or CD of parts list for '02 E46 M3
Lost the fenderwell exhaust grill.
I don't know how it was lost, either my wife hit one hell of a
pothole, or it was stolen while parked.
BMW OEM wheels weight02 Mar 2004 11:20 GMT2
Hi all, I'd like to know the weight of the original BMW wheels. Is there a
website which lists them?
I'm especially interested in the weight of those 17'' OEM wheels for the
E46.
I always wanted a beemer!!02 Mar 2004 10:30 GMT11
READING THIS COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE! I found this on a bulletin board and
decided to try it. A little while back, I was browsing through news groups,
just like you are now, and came across an article similar to this that said you
could make thousands of dollars within weeks with ...
Gasket Failure on M20 Engine02 Mar 2004 04:24 GMT3
I recently suffered what I initially thought was a head gasket failure on my
M20 engined 525i SE.  I'd been mysteriously losing coolant for several weeks
beforehand, when during a long journey the engine started misfiring during
acceleration and spectacular plumes of steam starting ...
Diesel engines02 Mar 2004 01:25 GMT12
I'm looking at purchasing a second hand E39 model (not the latest E60
incarnation) diesel.  The 530 is much publicised as being the "best"
diesel engine on the market.
However, before I commit myself to a 530, I do wonder whether I should
E39 540 tapping noise from cam...02 Mar 2004 00:28 GMT6
I am looking at one 98 540i which I am considering to purchase, after the
engine starts, I can hear a crispy tapping noise from underneath the cam
covers, the noise can be heard from both banks of the engine, but louder on
the driver side bank, the tapping isn't annoying but it ...
The New BMW 4 Series01 Mar 2004 22:07 GMT12
I'm in love.  Anyone have more details?
Long-Term Viability of 740iL01 Mar 2004 19:18 GMT4
My wife and I test drove a very nice `98 740iL.  We both liked the car
very much and it is in very good cosmetic condition.  However, we both
have concerns about paying $15k for a used car with 91,000 miles on
it.  I know these cars aren't cheap new and suspect they are expensive
E39 screen wash bottle replacement01 Mar 2004 17:09 GMT3
I've had to fill mine up once a week recently - did it this morning without
spilling a drop, except that my feet ended up wet from the constant drip
from the leading edge of the wheel well.....
So, is replacement DIYable or a dealer job? Anyone know how much stuff you
323 convertible problems01 Mar 2004 16:11 GMT1
I have a 2000 323 convertible (my first BMW) with just under 23k miles. I
love the car, the ride, the handling, everything about it, except that  I
have had a series of maintence problemas and repairs since  I purchased the
car new in May 2000.  In addition to routine maintenence, ...
Brake work on 740 - questions01 Mar 2004 16:10 GMT12
The computer on my 1998 740i is telling me to check the brake pads. The
dealer, without seeing the car, tells me that the work will be something
like $800. An independent BMW mechanic is telling me $100-150 for the rear
pads and $150-200 for the front. What's the story here? Does ...

Just thought I'd send a follow up on my orignal post last month.
If anyone has had a timing chain snap, or suspects that there's is
about to break, keep reading,,,altough, this is a sad story.
One morning while driving, without notice, my timing chain snapped.
E36 M3 seat comfort01 Mar 2004 13:26 GMT13
Wondered if anyone else had experience with front seat comfort in the E36M3
sedan.  The sedan seats are different than the seats in the coupe.  Both my
wife and I find the front seats decidedly uncomfortable, and then painful
after a long drive.  a long drive being defined as ...
