Am I being ripped off?06 Apr 2004 06:42 GMT4
My 1988 E32 is emitting a knocking sound under low-speed acceleration like
the drive shaft center support bearing ($60) has finally worn out. My local
drive shaft specialist insists that damage to the center support bearing
indicates a deeper problem with the drive shaft, ...
Need help finding Parts06 Apr 2004 06:40 GMT1
All-
I am new to the BMW world, and have a nice '94 740il that needs some
parts.  Would somebody mind posting some links in response to help me
find parts?  Used/refurb preferrably or discount OEM parts.  Thanks!
Where to find owners manual?06 Apr 2004 06:38 GMT6
I just purchased a 2001 BMW X5 3.0i.  The vehicle is in awesome condition,
but it didn't come with the original owner's manual (it *did* come with the
CD/stereo manual).
Does anyone know where I can pick up a manual?
Battery?05 Apr 2004 23:06 GMT20
I have a 1999 BMW 750iL. The dealer claims I need a new battery, which
I agree with. A "BMW" battery is $400, while at NTW (National Tire and
Battery) it is $99.95. I agree that I'd rather have BMW replace it,
but is it really necessary to pay another $300 for the brand name?

2004 330ci Convertible - trunk latch problem05 Apr 2004 22:31 GMT7
I have a 2004 330ci convertible.  I am having one minor problem that the
dealer so far hasn't fixed.  the electronic trunk unlatch mechanism doesn't
work.  I am referring to the button under the dash (driver's side) and the
button under the trunk lip.  I can only get into the trunk ...
What is MACO?05 Apr 2004 19:46 GMT4
I was  getting a quote from a So. Calif dealer.  In the quote was a $330
cost for what he called MACO.  He said it stoodfor Manufacturer Advertising
Costs.  Is this on the level or just a way for So. Calif dealers make more
profit?

Oil leaking into Air Filter Compartment05 Apr 2004 17:59 GMT2
I was recently doing some maintenance and noticed that oil has dripped
down the air breather and into into my air filter compartment.  I've
started researching  what could cause this, and from some posts that I
have read it sounds like it could be caused by a faulty pcv, a "blow
E36 vs E46 Wheel Bolt Specification05 Apr 2004 17:13 GMT2
Can anyone tell me if wheels from an E46 will fit on an E36?
Decent deal?05 Apr 2004 16:32 GMT2
Just recently bought a BMW 318i SE (registered June 98 so one of the last
E36s produced, and a very late 'R' registration).
It is in Avus Blue colour and the bodywork is 100% - there isn't so much as
a scratch on the bodywork and it looks literally brand new. It has 76,000
BMW Service Department Dishonest!!!??05 Apr 2004 16:31 GMT18
I am so angry I can hardly stand it.  I recently took my '94 e34 in for an
oil change and didn't mention that anything else was wrong, just wanted an
oil change.  I had asked for a quote to replace the rear inner door
moldings.  They called me later in the morning and instead of the ...
Unleaded Gas in an Euro 82 635.05 Apr 2004 16:16 GMT13
I heard from someone that older european cars should not use unleaded
gas, Or you should add lead treatment to the fuel. Is there any truth
in this? I have been using unleaded in my 82 635csi and I just want to
make sure I am not damaging the engine or anything like that.

I just bought a lovely '98 318i SE and it has some of the mtec body kit on
it and it looks and drives superbly. However I am not entirely sure what the
