| E38 740i 1996 -- front end "shimmy" when braking. Could it be JUST the rotors? | 20 Sep 2004 18:54 GMT | 2 |
I recently changed the front pads on my 740 E38. Strange thing although they were listed as E38 they were slightly different to the ones fitted in as much that a grinding wheel was taken to each pad to chamfer the top and bottom to match the original ones. However I digress, but ...

| why lug bolts (instead of lug nuts)? | 20 Sep 2004 17:36 GMT | 98 |
I just changed a tire on my BMW (for the first time) and discovered that (unlike my previous cars) the BMW uses lug *bolts* instead of lug nuts. What's up with that? Lug bolts makes it significantly harder to get the wheel back on.

| cracked head....ouch! | 20 Sep 2004 03:57 GMT | 11 |
Got a 1990 325i (E30/M20) that was overheating, but with no apparent pressure loss in the cooling system and no obvious leaks. Took it to H&B in Berkeley, CA and they took the cylinder head off. The head gasket itself looked ok, although it looked as if the head itself

Does anyone know if it is possible to add an amp to an E39? I think it just goes into a bracket, a little like the way the cd changer does. Is there some pre-wiring already there? Thanks,

The dashboard in my 97 E39 528 SE Auto has stopped working. That is the dials dont move, the computer is blank. The only think that is on is the current gear display. Additionally, the fan is not coming on for the blower, even though that part of the car is all lighting up

| Weird brake problem- '85 325e | 18 Sep 2004 21:58 GMT | 2 |
The brake light came on (1985 325e) so I checked the fluid and it was at the min mark. I kept adding fluid but it wouldn't come up any higher. I look inside the car and there is all the fluid in a puddle on the floor mat. I notice there is somekind of overflow? or pressure relief ...

I bought my E39 new back in sept 02. Since the last month, the service lights have read a CLOCK symbol and two green lights. I haven't yet had a service (no, I don't drive that much). My understanding of this was that I needed the time based service - I think

1st question - I recently bought a 1999 323i Convertible and no manual. Right above the shifter there is an electronic display that shows outside temp, Control Check, Clock, etc... There are four numbers on the left 1000, 100,10 and 1 that I figured out are for setting the clock. ...
