E38 740i 1996 -- front end "shimmy" when braking.  Could it be JUST the rotors?20 Sep 2004 18:54 GMT2
I recently changed the front pads on my 740 E38.
Strange thing although they were listed as E38 they were slightly different to the ones fitted in as
much that a grinding wheel was taken to each pad to chamfer the top and bottom to match the original
ones.  However I digress, but ...
why lug bolts (instead of lug nuts)?20 Sep 2004 17:36 GMT98
I just changed a tire on my BMW (for the first time) and
discovered that (unlike my previous cars) the BMW uses
lug *bolts* instead of lug nuts.  What's up with that?
Lug bolts makes it significantly harder to get the wheel back on.

Will a genuine e30 m3 kit fit onto a normal e30 coupe?
I asked this question on another group:

anyone have any recommendations or experience with dealers in the greater
Seattle area?
I only know of three:  Bellevue, Seattle, Fife
BMW Specialist in Toronto 20 Sep 2004 03:59 GMT7
I'm looking for a good BMW specialist in Toronto, specifically the
Mississauga region would be best. Does anyone have someone they use?
Thanks,

cracked head....ouch!20 Sep 2004 03:57 GMT11
Got a 1990 325i (E30/M20) that was overheating, but with no apparent
pressure loss in the cooling system and no obvious leaks. Took it to H&B
in Berkeley, CA and they took the cylinder head off.
The head gasket itself looked ok, although it looked as if the head itself
buying bmw 32519 Sep 2004 23:28 GMT4
I am thinking about buying a bmw 325, the price on yahoo is
(Invoice-MSRP) 25000-28000. What should be my negotiation target? What
would be the total cost when destination charge(WHat is destination
charge?) and tax add up?
Any BMW FAQs Out There?19 Sep 2004 20:03 GMT4
Hey group,
I'm new to the BMW universe, as I'm starting to shop for my first one....
I'm starting to do the standard homework -- Consumer Reports, Edmunds,
etc...  I was hoping this group could point me to a FAQ file or a 'tip' file

E39 Amplifier19 Sep 2004 15:19 GMT10
Does anyone know if it is possible to add an amp to an E39?  I think it just
goes into a bracket, a little like the way the cd changer does.  Is there
some pre-wiring already there?
Thanks,
e39 dashboard and fan19 Sep 2004 09:33 GMT3
The dashboard in my 97 E39 528 SE Auto has stopped working. That is
the dials dont move, the computer is blank. The only think that is on
is the current gear display. Additionally, the fan is not coming on
for the blower, even though that part of the car is all lighting up
Let's be honest18 Sep 2004 23:44 GMT27
Is the "quality" of BMW going downhill (not too dissimilar to Merc. lets be
honest)
My BMW  Coupe had loads of problems (even my new car which I bought in a
certain month was registered in a previous month so that the dealer in
Weird brake problem- '85 325e18 Sep 2004 21:58 GMT2
The brake light came on (1985 325e) so I checked the fluid and it was at the
min mark.  I kept adding fluid but it wouldn't come up any higher.  I look
inside the car and there is all the fluid in a puddle on the floor mat.
I notice there is somekind of overflow? or pressure relief ...
BMW service lights in the UK18 Sep 2004 18:55 GMT3
I bought my E39 new back in sept 02. Since the last month, the service
lights have read a CLOCK symbol and two green lights. I haven't yet had a
service (no, I don't drive that much).
My understanding of this was that I needed the time based service - I think
1999 323i "Memo"  and TireSiping Questions18 Sep 2004 11:13 GMT2
1st question - I recently bought a 1999 323i Convertible and no manual.
Right above the shifter there is an electronic display that shows outside
temp, Control Check, Clock, etc...  There are four numbers on the left 1000,
100,10 and 1 that I figured out are for setting the clock.  ...
