My brother's '86 528e has developed a sudden loss of all forward movement
through the automatic transmission.  Reverse works as it should. The tranny is
the simple one without the 3 position dial my '88 535i auto has.
His car has only 124,000 on it and I am surprised it has gone out ...

Yep I want one and I want one really bad - so bad I have conconted a website
to force me to make extra money to enable me to buy one.
Hence if any of you have any quick win ideas to make ?62,000 I would be
eternally grateful.

Ok, it turns out that I left my trunk open for 3 days and didn't drive
my car.  The little trunk lamp must have completely discharged my
battery because the car wouldn't start, I lost my clock settings, and
the battery's hydrometer was pure black, indicating a discharged

Does anyone have any information on the rear passenger airbag and active head
restraint options?  I'd really like the rear airbags (unless they'd blow a kid's
head off if he was napping against the door), and I know nothing about the
active head restraint.

I am looking at 97 540a with 128K miles.  It seems to be in really good shape
and has been maintained well.  I can't find anything wrong with the car. The
owner wants about 10K for it.  Is this a good deal?  Is there any compelling
reason to not buy a 540 with those kind of miles?

just purchased a '94 525 e34 chain type engine, no aircon but auto, we only
appear to
be getting 16-18 mpg, any ideas greatly apprecoiated.

As the first snows of autumn hit the English midlands this evening my '95
E34 525i failed to clear the miisting from the windows.
Engine at optimum temp. Air aimed at full de-mist. I could barely feel the
air move!

525E or in the US ... 528E ... what do the manuals drive like.
All 525E's sold in the UK had autoboxes, i don't think the
325e in either manual or auto was ever sold in the UK.

My old 525e changes gear at 3900rpm, it's got the basic non-E/H tranny.
Seems to me that even on an eta that's a bit of a wste and another
1000rpm could only improve acceleration. It seems to come "on cam" not
long before then.

Any advice would be appreciated:
