E39 Xenon Upgrade from Non-Xenon22 Apr 2005 15:10 GMT2
Group,
I just completed putting in later style Xenon's in my '98 528 that had
non-Xenon's.   It was not that hard.  I recommend it.  Just make sure you
use all BWM parts.

e39 winshield washer line22 Apr 2005 13:47 GMT1
I have a '99 528i (U.S. model) and I have a silly sounding problem.  The
washers stopped working but there is fluid and the pump runs.  The jets (on
the hood) don't seem to be blocked.  When I try to use the washer, water
comes out from a hole in the wheelwell.  The reservoir is ...
Tape cassette stuck in player.22 Apr 2005 11:52 GMT4
I have the regular BMW Business Radio/Cassette head unit in my 1999 318ti.
The tape plays fine, but when I press the eject button, the mechanism
chitters and doesn't eject the tape. The display helpfully says "ERROR".
Is this a common problem? Is there a neat trick for getting a ...
Rear Axle Noise21 Apr 2005 22:10 GMT1
I'm experiencing a noise from my rear axle.  Its intermittent and only
audible in at slow speed in 1st/2nd gear.  If I'm rolling slowly down a hill
with the clutch in (engine disengaged from transmission) theres no noise at
all.  If I lift the clutch slowly to engage engine ...
Looking for E36 Electric seat switches21 Apr 2005 17:22 GMT3
I'm looking for the passenger side switch pack for my E36 325is's
Electric seats. One of the positions has decided to go out on me. I figure
someone out there must be parting out a E36 with bad leather, damaged
uppers, etc.
94 740IL - will 87 octane hurt performance?21 Apr 2005 15:53 GMT7
Had about a quarter of a tank left and went to fill up today.  Put in 6
gallons of 87 octane before I realized my mistake, and then put in 8 gallons
of 93 octane.  Drove the car home (8 miles) with no problems.  Should I
expect to hear knocking or pinging?  Not sure if my "combined" ...
1994 520i SE Touring repair/mainenance manual21 Apr 2005 15:47 GMT4
been and gone and got it - love it so far but want to lavish a bit of
TLC on a rather under loved car. First search for a maintenance/repair
manual (Haynes) has been unsuccessful - is there another model / version
I can use or an alternative source?
85 528e Computer Display Problem21 Apr 2005 15:15 GMT7
the display information from computer that provides date, time, temp, etc.,
located in the dash to the right of the instrument cluster can barely be
seen. Until today it has always been bright and easy to read, but now it is
very very dim and vitually impossible to read, although ...
'97 535 vs 540.21 Apr 2005 13:29 GMT15
I have a possibility of buying either a '97 535 or 540. The 535 is in manual
and 540 in automatic.I was wondering what would you suggest that I'd choose
and most of all, is one of them more prone to break downs than the other?
Both of them are in good shape with around 65k miles. ...
1999 540i BMW - Dash leds broken pixels21 Apr 2005 12:46 GMT4
Hi in BMW land (Break My Wallet).
The on board display below my speedomenter has a number of broken pixels
that makes messages and some readings difficult to read.
Here in Australia BMW are saying it requires a complete new speedo section
Hypothetical question in the UK21 Apr 2005 03:06 GMT7
I have an E39 with steptronic auto gearbox. I know with the milage on
my motor this is a weak point and an expensive problem however I
remember that there used to be garage type places that would change a
car engine or gearbox while the owner was at work. Obviously this was
Cleaning the engine compartment20 Apr 2005 23:38 GMT9
Took my car to the local auto "detailer" (i.e., offers thorough
cleaning inside and out) and asked to have the
engine compartment included.  Told, "sorry, With
all the delicate electronics we can't take the chance."
OT: The long slow death or Rover20 Apr 2005 21:24 GMT22
Slightly off-topic but just heard the news that Rover might finally stop
production (unless the UK government bails it out with a 100m pound loan).
Suppliers are very concerned about being paid.  I don't want the government
to use my money to prop this farce up any longer.
running costs + high milers 318 ci20 Apr 2005 20:17 GMT7
Hoping some of you can give me some pointers here.
I'm looking at buying an early bmw 318ci ('99 - '01 ish).  Now the prices
seem to be falling a bit with the new model on its way.
Is there anything in particular I need to be checking (faults, etc) when
