Noise When Going From First to Second25 Jul 2005 21:22 GMT1
I have a 2001 BMW 325xi with Automatic Transmission.  For the past few
years I sometimes have a problem when the car shifts from first to
second.  The shift tends to be rough / drops hard into gear and there
is a loud rubbing noise (not the tires) that I hear.  This happens most

Changing E46 330i grill sections - how to do it?25 Jul 2005 17:20 GMT1
I'd like to change my chrome/black 2003 330i grill sections for black or
painted. Bought a set and looked at how the two sections that make up each
grill (and sandwich around the hood sheet metal) are put together and it is
not really obvious how to release the flimsy black clips ...

expected. TIA
front lower control arm bushings25 Jul 2005 15:30 GMT9
Howdy,
My dealer is recommending that I replace the front lower control arm
bushings on my 1999 323i. My BMW has about 57,000 miles on it, and the
quote for replacing them is around $550.00.  Is this a reasonable

Fitting a dog guard in a 3 series coupe? (2001-)25 Jul 2005 04:35 GMT3
I am about to trade my Avant Audi A4 for a nice 2004 '04 BMW M3, Grrr...
I have 2 bull terriers who sat quite happily in the back of the Audi with a
dog guard, obviously this isn't going to be as easy with a coupe!
I used to have a 330ci and have the fitted dog cover for the back ...
Speedometer faulty24 Jul 2005 23:15 GMT5
My speedometer stopped working; and at the same time the window wiper
stopped working at regular speed mode. (Only intermittant and full speed are
now functioning.)
I have checked the fuses.

740 E38 - Tick from under bonnet / whine from tranny or torque converter..24 Jul 2005 19:18 GMT1
I have a 2000 740i, which has covered 95,000. It had a new tranny installed
2,500 miles ago, and has full service history, and still under BMW warranty.
I have only just bought the car, but have owned 2 740's before, and a 745Li.
With the window down in the drivers seat, I can hear ...
abs and asc warning lights24 Jul 2005 18:49 GMT6
Both of these warning lights have suddenly lit up on my 523i 1999 manual.
This has coincided with the brake fluid light coming on. Will adding brake
fluid resolve all issues?
Bluetooth?24 Jul 2005 16:26 GMT1
I'm about to buy a BMW (2004) that's fitted with the bluetooth phone option.
The sales guy paired my phone and it seemed to work ok, showed the number of
the person calling me on the front of the stereo anyway.  However he pressed
the button that's supposed to allow me to scroll ...
Synthetic and oil level reading24 Jul 2005 14:39 GMT3
Since I filled my 1991, 750iL with Mobil 1, 0W-40, the low oil level
alarm has started going off when the (overnight) dipstick level is 1/4
of the way down from the high mark.
I have heard that synthetic oil "clings to the surfaces", and thus
A funny thing happened on the way thru an oil change24 Jul 2005 14:28 GMT28
I was changing the oil in my car, and while waiting for the dripping to
stop, I looked around at all of the stuff there is to look at under a car,
and wondered what all of the plastic parts were that were laying around near
the bottom of the radiator. It hit me that the fan was gone ...
Audi S4 or BMW M3?24 Jul 2005 13:48 GMT22
I used to own a 330ci (2001) and loved this car, I fancied a change though
and for the last 12 months have owned an Audi A4 3.0 Quattro, also a very
nice car but not quite as fun to drive as the BMW.
Now I'm looking at changing and I can't decide on an M3 or an S4, I've
