New Cars - Too many gizmos?06 Aug 2005 19:51 GMT5
I've really gotten discouraged with what seems to be happening to almost
all the new cars.  They're getting so many electronic gizmos on them
that I've just got to believe reliability is going to suffer.  I'm
thinking specifically about problems I've read with the "soft stop" on

Air circulation option06 Aug 2005 13:13 GMT17
My 2001 330ci has an air circulation option. One is supposedly used when the
AC system is set to auto. The other is for "non" auto. I can't think of a
single reason to have this switch. When re-circulation the air in the cabin,
what difference does it make if the system is set to ...

I have a '92 525i and the bulbs on the OBC went out recently, however the
BC stalk switch on the steering column now doesn't work. Usually you can
see info displayed on the dash when you depress the button, but nothing
happens. I can see the display in the OBC when I shine a ...
My first BMW...06 Aug 2005 00:56 GMT20
No, it's now a new 7-series<grin>.....
I've got an opportunity to purchase a 318is from 1996 that appears to be in
excellent condition, despite the 138K miles on the clock.  Yes, I know the
328 and 325 may be more desirable, but the price seems to be in the ballpark
VIN Numbers on the various body panels06 Aug 2005 00:54 GMT8
I'm searching for a replacement for my '94 325i, and I came upon an E46 that
has no VIN number (that's redundant, isn't it?) stickers on the variouis
body panels.
Does anybody have a good explanation as to why they would have stopped

'94 518iSE / M43 Clutch04 Aug 2005 14:25 GMT2
Car has done 100k miles, mostly in clutch pumping commuter traffic but
recently the slightest pressure on the clutch pedal was causing slip. So had
the unit replaced by an independent. Now the clutch needs pressing almost
all the way to the floor before it disengages and it is ...

Hi all, I'm kinda scratching my head a bit here ...
Yesterday whilst driving I noticed a strong smell of petrol in the car.
I immediately stopped and switched off the engine. When I opened the
bonnet there was a pool of petrol in one of the exhaust manifold valleys

My 99 M3 has had a knock (maybe "piston slap") and the mechanic is

and foreign) and was wondering how much more complicated this engine
