I am new to this forum, but have been a BMWCAA member for over 12
years. Anyway, I was driving home last night in my e30 and I hit a
fender (a car fender was laying in the road) and it ripped the Aluminum
cover off my Catalytic convertor. The motor is an M42 and the car is a

Hi all, the exhaust system on my UK 1990 320iSE has seen better days
and needs renewing soon.
Currently it is the non-cat 3 part system with a mid-box and the single
outlet silencer. The question is whether I can install a 2 part system
Shoudl I get a new BMW 325 or stick with E30 ?11 Jan 2006 13:32 GMT13
I am thinking of getting a new BMW 325 SE (2006 Reg), which looks OK,
with good reviews and safety features, But it costs £29K with decent
leathers and paint job.
But I have an 18 year old, E30 320i BMW, which is still fun to drive.

Inspection II Brake Pads11 Jan 2006 09:50 GMT7
From http://www.540i6.com/inspectionchecklist.html it says
"Remove and install front and reat(sic) disc brake pads, check overall
thickness. "
Presumably - they are simply re-installing the old pads if they are thick

Hi. my '97 540i was just totalled (by a toyota!) and i am looking to buy a
2003 530i.  BUT in my 540i, I put in something like $280 in @$%@$%@

My car has not been driving as smoothly as normal so I open up the hood
to find that the fan is missing about half of its blades.  The have

Engine Computer Replacement/Cost10 Jan 2006 22:10 GMT2
1990 525i, independent says I need a new engine computer.  The "brain"
seems to be telling the injectors to dump extra fuel into 3 of the
cyliners and gets the car to stall out.  Does anyone know how much one
would be and what it would cost to do the job.  He is saying that the

Replace head unit, harman kardon & bluetooth phone - 2004 M310 Jan 2006 13:11 GMT4
I know this question has been asked a 1,000 times before but there still
doesn't seem to be a definitive answer!
I have a 2004 BMW M3 with a cassette head unit, 6 CD changer, Harman Kardon
speaker upgrade and Bluetooth mobile prep.
1992 525iT manual transmission problem10 Jan 2006 12:50 GMT2
I have a '92 touring manual, M50 engine, 180k miles. All the gears work
fine, but when changing, if I'm not very careful with matching revs,
there is a soft-but-weighty thunk, feels like it's underneath me, maybe
a bit behind me. Could this be a worn sycnromesh, or something to do
This may very well be the dumbest question ever posted but here goes...10 Jan 2006 12:24 GMT8
I have an older BMW (1989 25is).  My power steering is low.  I have no idea

place and all hell breaks loose.  I don't have a manual as ...
