Removing E39 front bumper.21 Aug 2006 15:39 GMT1
I can usually sus things out for myself, but this has me stumped.
My problem is removing the black grilles alongside the fog lights, to get at
the upward facing bolts holding the bumper.
According to an article in a roadfly.org forum, once the pin fasteners have
E39 540i21 Aug 2006 13:53 GMT16
I'm thinking of getting a 540, probably a Touring.  What sort of things
should I look out for?  I've seen mention of pre- and post-facelift models,
piston ring modifications re excessive oil burning.  Obviously the earlier
cars are cheaper.  I will probably go for an automatic.  Are ...

auto-locking doors20 Aug 2006 02:24 GMT5
I have an E90 and have just had it serviced. During the service they
reprogrammed the computer and now my doors lock automatically when I drive
away. This is a little annoying for me, because now I have to yank on the
door handle 2 time to exit the car, once to unlock and once to ...
1985 bmw 325e20 Aug 2006 01:05 GMT12
I have an 85 325e, when accelerating the car seems to accelerate
sluggishly. I push the pedal all the way to the floor and some times it
will accelerate ok.
I thought maybe gas. I changed the fuel filter and the spark plugs. No
electric window problem19 Aug 2006 11:10 GMT12
1996 EVO M3 UK 118,000 miles.
Normally, when the door is shut, the glass window raises a little to
effect the airlcok and when the door opens, it lowers itself an inch or
so. This is for airtight locking of doors, I presume.

93 525i radiator problem18 Aug 2006 18:15 GMT4
While driving to the store today, I noticed steam coming from under my hood.
I looked at the temp gage and everything seemed normal. When I parked at the
store I popped the hood and almost fell over from what I saw! The upper
inlet pipe to the radiator had broken off and the ...
Brakes too good.18 Aug 2006 17:25 GMT50
Just aquired an E39 to replace my E34.
One difference that is immediately apparent, is the lightness of the brakes.
So little pressure is required to brake, that unless I brace myself with my
left foot, I slide forward in the seat. This, for just normal slowing down
2007 M5 with a real manual transmission18 Aug 2006 12:02 GMT4
Is BMW coming out with a true manual transmission in the 2007 M5?  Some
magazines say so, but dealers
people say they have not heard that this going to happen.  Has anyone heard
if it is really happening and if so when will they be available?
2006 530i - High Battery Drain18 Aug 2006 10:08 GMT7
I picked up the car from the port and the battery was dead.
The dealer replaced the battery.
Recently, it displays a warning: High Battery Drain. Car still starts
but I'm guessing the battery is living on borrowed time.

Doing a clutch job on my '86 535i within the next week.
Seems the throwout/release bearing is making noise intermittently when the
clutch is disengaged. I bled the clutch system to no avail. The sounds are
similar to gears on the very edge of disengagement. When the clutch is
