buffered coolant temp guage09 Aug 2006 10:34 GMT17
Seeking the group's wisdom on this.
Car is 2005 330Ci, my first bimmer and one I'm enjoying greatly.
However, I find that the water temp guage is "buffered". That is when,
say, climbing up a mountain road to a pass, many of which Washington State
1994 740IL - catalytic converter bad?08 Aug 2006 21:24 GMT2
For the last week, my 94 740IL has been making a rattling/clanging noise
under the passenger seat, especially when accelerating from a stop up to
around 40 mph.  I got under the car this weekend and couldn't find anything
out of the ordinary.  Called the dealership this morning, ...

How do you retract a deployed roll bar M3 Convertible?08 Aug 2006 19:12 GMT9
990 M3 Convertible had the roll bar automatically deploy.  How does one
retract the bars?
ICE-3208 Aug 2006 16:44 GMT2
Based on comments on this group I had ICE-32 added to my 1998 740i's air
conditioning. The AC has been borderline in really hot weather even
though the dealer says it is performing up to "factory specs." It cost
$70 at a Firestone service center. The verdict? A slight (but ...

Link to Gettysburg photos showing the Gettysburg battlefield before
superintendent John Latschar's ego ran amok and ruined it.

We loved Gettysburg: married there, took dozens of week-long trips, spent
Worlds nicest dealer, or warranty recall on E46 alternators?08 Aug 2006 15:12 GMT11
Here's my story:
The alternator on my 2001 325Xi (E46) died while on the road, and the
battery couldn't keep the engine running long enough to get to a repair
shop.  Had it towed to the dealer for repairs. (dealership is just a mile

E36 325is - Is there a 6 Speed Transmission out there?08 Aug 2006 09:26 GMT7
As the subject says, is there a 6 speed manual transmission that is a
direct bolt on replacement for the factory 5 speed in the 1995 E36 325is?
Something just doesn't site right with me with the 5 speed. The engine is at
3500 -3700 RPMs when I'm doing 75 - 80 MPH. That just ...

E34 1995 TDS water pump query...08 Aug 2006 00:01 GMT5
Can anyone confirm if the water pump in a 1995 E34 525 TDS has a plastic or
metal impellor and whether is prone to sudden failure ?
The garage thought / said it was metal but it has just    ? possibly ?
failed - the car overheats very quickly and shuts down to a 30 mph limp home
Oil Burner07 Aug 2006 20:59 GMT6
I have replaced my trusty E36 328 with an E39 530.  I've done about 9k miles
since purchase and have had to put three litres of oil in it (regular
intervals).  Trusty E36 didn't need a drop.  Does this sound excessive and
something to worry about?  There's no drips when parked up so ...
Faulty Fuel Gauge Sensor07 Aug 2006 16:53 GMT3
2001 X5, 3.0 L engine.
Recently, my fuel gauge in the console is giving me errant readings.
After a full fueling (19.8 gal.) the gauge only read 1/4 full, then
slowly went down to empty.  Considered maybe a leak since I was on a
Z4 question for novel I'm writing07 Aug 2006 16:49 GMT5
Hey -- I'm writing a piece of fiction, and in it, an '06 Z4 is involved
in an accident.  I was about to have a piece of evidence left behind at
the scene -- a piece of the turn-signal lens -- but it occurred to me
that I'd better make sure that's practical.  Could it happen?
