Dial gauge for brakes30 Nov 2006 16:34 GMT8
I'm planning to service the brakes on my '98 M3.
I'd like to get a good quality dial gauge to check rotor run out, and a
clamp to keep the gauge steady. I've seen pictures of a Honda clamp
which is basically a flexible arm which attaches to the vehicle near
BMW reset tool30 Nov 2006 14:32 GMT2
I have an 84 733i, and I've been working on fixing several of the
problems in the car.  One of the last ones that immediately concern me is
the temperature gauge, which doesn't budge.  The sender is good, the
indicator is good (passed some current through it,) and I can "see" the ...
525i 1992 Speedometer and RPM meter problem when cold outside30 Nov 2006 09:02 GMT3
I've a problem with my '92 525i when the tempratures outside drop to around
freeze point. The speedometer and RPM meter start jumping around, or stay at
20km/h 500 rpm. When the car has heated up and I stop it for 2 minutes or so
the problem is gone.
Poor E39 handbrake.30 Nov 2006 00:47 GMT23
Have any E39's got good h/brakes?
Auto 528i
Had new rear discs, pads, and shoes fitted today. Handbrake is still very
poor.
Low coolant29 Nov 2006 22:26 GMT5
My low coolant light has been coming on at first start in the morning. It
only stays on for a short while (about a quarter mile of gentle driving)
then it goes out and doesn't re-appear all day. The temp gauge never gets
hot. If I let it sit most of the day after the initial ...
1987 325e Heat not working29 Nov 2006 19:19 GMT2
I have a a 1987 black 325e and the cabin heat is not working. What
would you recommend? (no heat at all).
Cleaning Convertible Top29 Nov 2006 16:55 GMT11
Just bought a used (10k miles) Z4 with a light tan rag top.  Any suggestions
on what to use to  clean it and possibly water proof it?  BMW has its own
line of course but they are some other brand with their logo stamped on it
so the price can triple.
Z4 automatic vs. stick29 Nov 2006 11:52 GMT59
Anybody have a preference of automatic over stick?
I will be buying a Z4.  I want an automatic because 1) I will not be driving
it like a race car and 2) the advances in automatic transmissions make them
as reliable as manuals and 3) I have been driving autos for over 30 years
odometer lights not working29 Nov 2006 10:52 GMT6
My odometer doesn't light up, making it very hard to read. The K's
actually do tick over - when light shines on the dash you can see it...
and all the other lights in the dash work fine except for the odometer area.
I drive an E36, '96 318is M-Spec.  I'm not sure if its electrical ...
1987 BMW 325 Central Locking System Issue28 Nov 2006 22:18 GMT9
I accidently locked the driver's side door and initiated the Central Locking
System.  Well, it took me a while to unlock the driver's side door again.
The passenger side is still locked and now the car won't start.  Question:
When the Central Locking System is engaged, will that ...

Autozone code reader found P1421 & P1423: BMW specific codes
A search of the net finds that these codes indicate low oxygen in both
M50B20 vs M50B25 intake manifolds, is there a difference?28 Nov 2006 07:53 GMT1
I see lots of used/cheap M50 2.0 manifolds on ebay. they have a
different part number to the 2.5 but I'm wondering what the difference
is (if any)?
Looking at doing the M52/M50 swap at some point on my 328i. Also
2002 325CI- Service engine soon27 Nov 2006 22:26 GMT7

Any chance that its something simple?
I just passed emissions test  a few weeks
ago. I checked the gas cap, but that was
1989 325 Tires27 Nov 2006 15:38 GMT16
My 1989 325i uses 195/65 HR14 tires.  After the original I've always used
Michelin tires.  I now find out Michelin no longer makes a 195/65.  What is
a recommended Michelin tire for my car?  195/60 OK?
Thanks.
