Hi guys , i have a 93 bmw 316i automatic. It often changes into a
higher gear and doesnt change down...imagine driving around in 3rd all
day!  This has plagued me for over a year and i lived with it as it
didnt happen all the time.

oddball question: which would have more power out of a '96 318iS
(1900cc), or 2001 318i (also 1900), same? or does the newer model have
better weight distribution etc...?  (i currently own the 96 model but
might be getting something newer soon).

I'm the proud owner of a 1990 535i E34 but since i bought it 2 months
ago, i've had a problem with hunting idle. this is my first BMW so i'm
really not familiar with it's quirks. i've had the fuel injectors and
lines checked and cleaned but it's still "gurgling". one mechanic said

I'm considering buying a low-mileage 1992 318i convertible that
appears to be in good condition. Fairly good records, etc.. Aside from
the known problem with the timing gasket (replaced) is there anything
else I should be concerned about ? Any and all help/advice appreciated
