Any aircon specialists out there?09 Jan 2007 14:16 GMT3
The ac compressor on my 2002 e46 has now started to growl on starting,
atherwise it works well with plenty of cold air. On recycling the growl
always starts again for about 5 secs and then stops. Car now 130 000 km.and
this problem just started during last 5 000 km.
BMWs rough engines09 Jan 2007 11:24 GMT26
3 days ago I was at a BMW dealership looking over their new cars.
Their 5 Series V8 engine sounded as if it had thrown a connecting rod
while it was there idling.
I googled about it and had discovered that BMW had a plethoria of
E30 driveshaft flexible coupling09 Jan 2007 08:16 GMT4
I believe that the flexible coupling for my driveshaft needs to be
replaced.  I get a an intermittant squeaking at low speeds under the
console until the car has been driven for a few miles.  At first I
thought it was something rubbing in a wheel well or a wheel bearing

losing coolant08 Jan 2007 21:45 GMT14
I have noted this before in my head, as it seems a common problem, and now i
think my car is sufferant from it.
About 150 miles i get the coolant warning on the dash, i could never find a
leak, athough for the first time when i was parked i found a puddle of
rear drum brake shoes replaced- are they working???08 Jan 2007 14:08 GMT6
E28 520i 1985
I replaced my rear drum brake SHOES and all went well ... but when doing
a hard braking test, only the front wheels lock up.
Is this normal? Of course I should have done a before and after test and
SI lights wont reset05 Jan 2007 20:20 GMT23
Just had my car serviced but the mechanic reported that the SI lights wont
reset.
Its showing 1 orange light and 3 red - I've read that not resetting may mean
that the batteries on the SI board need replacing but if that's the case
electrical??05 Jan 2007 16:30 GMT1
Car: 1996 BMW 318ti
Problem:  I was driving it and suddenly it beeped at me and then the
feul gage, the rpms and the blinker stopped registering.  The
spedometer, radio, overhead lights, brake lights and headlights still
E46 £20d battery going flat.05 Jan 2007 09:48 GMT13
I have 320d which is just over 2 years old.  Twice in the last month I
have been unable to start the car as the battery has gone flat.  I
have not driven on any particularly long trips, but I would have
thought the journeys were long enough to charge the battery.  I had
94 540i oil change04 Jan 2007 15:10 GMT5
I've been told by a local independent BMW service garage that I should
expect to do two oil changes per year at approx. $80 each (incl. all
materials and labor). That seems a bit high to me, but as a newbie in
the BMW world, I don't have any past experience to go from. Thoughts?
1994 540i transmission service04 Jan 2007 13:59 GMT3
Hey, just got this car and wondering if anyone has some info about how
much to expect for a transmission service (flush, fluid change, etc.).
I've been told the service kit is around $110, and the fluid alone is
another $204 because it's "very specialized BMW fluid." True?
Battery Disconnect03 Jan 2007 23:40 GMT4
I need to disconnect the battery in my 2000 323i E46 to install a cd
changer/ipod adapter.  Anyone know of any cautions to take before
disconnecting?
Does disconnect cause a need for reprogramming anything on the vehicle
Broken front strut on an E3903 Jan 2007 14:13 GMT11
Today the plate that is welded to the strut and takes the bottom of the
spring decided to part company with the strut - wrecking the tyre in the
process. Is this a common fault? Seems to me it should be one of those
things that never ever breaks. Never seen it on any other strut ...
E28 rear wheel bearing.03 Jan 2007 12:02 GMT1
Anyone know if it's the same on a drum braked 518 as a disc 520? Also
what's the size of the fixing nut? Question asked for my brother who
bought a 518 for body spares for his 520 - and still lives in the 20th
century without internet access. ;-)
2002 Series 3 service reset on dashboard03 Jan 2007 09:50 GMT2
I have a 2002 325i with 88,000 miles so I stopped taking it to my dealer
long ago to save money. But my mechanic (whom I like) doesn't know how
to reset the "service needed" dashlight after, let's say, an oil change.
Does anybody know how to do this?
