Well what do you know - it works! :)16 Feb 2007 00:10 GMT6
Today we had *really* bad snow in Chicago, and on the way to work I
was fish-tailing all over the place. Within 3 blocks, it looked like I
simply wasn't going to be able to avoid hitting someone. Finally, I
remembered my car came with DTC (hey, I haven't had to drive in the
98 BMW M3  convertible aftermarket soft top?15 Feb 2007 16:57 GMT2
did a search through the older threads for anything related to the M3
convertible rag tops....I'm thinking about buying a 98 M3 Convertible.
Are there issues with the soft top, besides the rear window fading? Do
the soft tops have a tendency to "wear out"   i.e.  loose fit after
Z4 w/ or w/o power top ??14 Feb 2007 11:23 GMT11
I'm looking at 2004,5,6 Z4's and wondering if a power top is really a
requirement.
How much hassle/effort goes into operating the manual top?  Does a manual
top prevent you from putting the top down for short drives?  Would having

My house has a 7 ft. garage door installed in a garage with a 12 ft.
ceiling. I want to install a lift for my car, but when the garage door
is open, I have about 5 feet of unused space between the garage door
and the ceiling.  I would like to install more vertical track and
Advice sought - on a 54013 Feb 2007 04:22 GMT15
Looks like I'm nigh on buying an old, old 540 of '94 vintage.
The navy blue car has clocked 60,000 miles, which is quite low for a
94 E34 shape. It has a 250 bhp powerplant. The interiors are clean and
has a Kenwood mp3/cd player with a great sound system. Everything

I'm in a heck of a bind that hopefully someone can help with.  I bought a
used 2003 BMW 525 3 days ago and much to my surprise I can't unlock the
driver door.  Here's what I've tried...
1.  Tried unlocking with keyless key.  It'll lock and unlock the other 3
Acceleration momentary stall10 Feb 2007 19:37 GMT3

However today the fuell ight came on so I stopped at a BP and filled

Later that day I was driving and noticed that there was something kind
RFI: 1991 E30 318IS engine swap10 Feb 2007 09:59 GMT1
I am looking for advice on swapping out a tired M42 4 cylinder for a
fresh M44 4 cylinder. I know there are many instances of upgrading to an
M50 engine, but I like the balance of the car with the lighter engine.
Thanks in advance.
ZF 4HP22 auto gearbox question10 Feb 2007 01:57 GMT3
Mate has an E28 520i with a ZF 4HP22, it's the normal version not the EH
with the electronic control and S/E/123 switch.
It was fine until he had the fluid changed, I'm guessing the change
loosened off all sort of old junk and it's ended up in the valve bodies.
E90 Display09 Feb 2007 20:31 GMT1
Does any one know how to display the same instantaneous data / information
in the E90 instrument cluster that you can in the E46 and E39 cars, such as
system voltage, true coolant temperature, true r.p.m.?
I can get tests 1.x (chassis number, build date, software version et ...

Hiya,
Got everything unbolted apart from the gearbox, the top bellhousing bolts

Where is the battery on a 1991 735i09 Feb 2007 00:15 GMT23
I need to replace the battery on my 1991 735.  But where the hell is
it??  I've scoured the engine bay and the only thing I can find is the
