Brake noise19 Sep 2007 15:59 GMT4
I have a 2005 Z4 which I drive a couple times a week.  When backing up I
notice the breaks make a loud grinding noise as they are applied and
released (car moving slightly with breaks applied).
Any ideas?
740i has a high rev [3000rpm] at start up and stays there18 Sep 2007 18:12 GMT5
the car is a 740i 1995.. at start-up it jumps to 3000rmp and stays
there.  I am not sure what to make of this and have no idea what could
be the cause of it.  What can be the cause of the high rev?
Mileage on 1991 318i 333000 kms plus18 Sep 2007 15:15 GMT3
Whats the opinion of this type of mileage on this car. What could be some
issues.
1989 BMW 325i, Check Engine sign, engine hesitation:  what is it?16 Sep 2007 16:04 GMT1
This has never before happened with this car; the car was hesitating
very badly today after driving about 10 miles, and although it got a
little better the rest of the day, it still hesitates a little from
time to time, and the check engine sign comes on for a second, then

I an in the UK and I have a 1999 316i (E46) with 42,000 miles on the
clock. I have been told that I need to replace brake pads and discs
front and rear. Is this usal for an 8 year old car given the low
millage?. The cheapest quote I've had is about £390 (dealer price

Switching E36 UK headlamps for EU mainland dip13 Sep 2007 18:09 GMT20
I'm off to drive in that funny world on t'other side of the road in a
few month, so being the prepared chappy that I am, I thought I'd try
to find how the headlamps on my E36 are aimed to the left, and how to
switch them to aim to the right.
BMW Air mass meter (AKA: air flow meter or MAF) issues and cheap alternatives13 Sep 2007 17:21 GMT1
My E39 530d (2001) started to behave sluggish tendancies
symptons:
very slow response to acceleration
power reasonable at 1/2 throttle, dire at full throttle
Conforti engine chips or their equivalent - worth the $?13 Sep 2007 02:32 GMT1
If this has been covered recently, I apologize. Just wondering how much
extra performance can be gained from this $250 chip. The claims aren't
unreasonable (18-20 lbs of torque in the m50 engine), so maybe my '95
E34 525i can be given a small boost. I'm sure some of you have tried ...
92 535i purchase13 Sep 2007 01:50 GMT2
Just picked up a 1992 535i with 110k miles on it.  Looks to be in good shape.  This is my first BMW car, though I do own a BMW motorcycle.
What would you do first?  I've heard new relays, fluid changes, new water pump, new air filter etc... mentioned.  Thanks for the help and ...
E46 loose steering column?13 Sep 2007 00:59 GMT2
Hi everyone. I've seen numerous posts on this topic but nothing that
answers my question. On my e46 320 coupe - on rough ground I get a
knocking through the steering column. Also, if I open the bonnet and
shake the column there is a fair amount of movement at the point where
M52 high oil consumption12 Sep 2007 21:26 GMT9
My 95 328i touring is using about a litre of oil every 1000 miles, has
been for the last 12000 miles or more! She's at 137k miles. She starts
and idles perfectly and isn't lacking power, so I don't really suspect
the dreaded sulphur problem. No drips on the driveway either.
Manuals for 1985 635csi12 Sep 2007 05:04 GMT4
All,
What is the group's recommendation for manuals and schematics for this
German model? We have the Bentley 5-series manual, is there anything else?

Newbie BMW owner - 2004 330i12 Sep 2007 02:26 GMT22
Well, as the subject states, i am a newly proud owner of a 2004 BWM 330i
that i just purchased from Gault BWM in Binghamton, NY.
I looked all over before actually finding a 330i... rather than buying
the 325xi... Seems like thats all they want to sell in upstate NY.
