325 dies under way,..25 Dec 2007 18:43 GMT21
Hello, I thought I had this sorted but these same symptoms have
cropped up again: I'm cruising along with my sunglasses on and my toe
tapping and then the engine stops running. I coast to the side of the
road while people jeer and laugh and crank the starter. It spins but
Is it safe to combine different oils of the same grade?24 Dec 2007 20:24 GMT6
For example: if my motor had Titan GT1 5W/30 in it and for top-up I use,
let's say Castrol 5W/30 - would this be OK?  Just wondering because I have
some spare oil of the same grade and don't want to go out and buy more oil
unless I really have to.

I just got the new 2008 328i 2dr coupe.
I did not choose active steering.
However, I did choose the sports package and the automatic transmission with
paddle shifters.

Mercedes Benz alloy wheels with 2 good 205HR14 tires. "Old style 126"
slotted alloy rims, came from a 1982 300sd. Great for snows. Good condition,
balanced and
8/32" tread. $50 for both
325 still knocking after valve adjustment,..22 Dec 2007 22:28 GMT23
I posted earlier about my 325 with 145k miles that knocks for the
first few minutes until it comes up to temp.
Well, adjusting the valves didn't help any. They were fine except for
two that might have been slightly loose by .01" or so.
2002 325i new owner22 Dec 2007 21:05 GMT12
My deal is done for a 2002 BMW 325i with 100k KM (Mystique blue +
beige interior) for $15K Canadian. No alloy wheels and no moon/sun
roof. The car is in good condition and I think its not a bad deal.
I am trying to find the maintenance schedule for it like preventive
1995  318is   bent wheel22 Dec 2007 19:30 GMT7
I hit a curb hard in an ice storm and bent a wheel.  It's minor but
definitely can't be driven.
I have a place that says they can put it back into shape.  Does it
make more sense to find a new one, and where would I look other than a

E34 circuit sensor shows brake and fog light out...21 Dec 2007 06:17 GMT6
My 1995 e34 just passed the 120,000 mile mark and a curious thing
has occurred.  I'm getting a message that a fog lamp is out, but it's not.
Same thing on a brake light, even though it still works. Do the sockets
where these lamps mount ever need cleaning? Thanks.
e39 dash got 'leather treatment' on it, how to clean it up??20 Dec 2007 14:33 GMT4
I took my car to car wash and some genius put leather treatment on the
dashboard.  Now it's oily, sticky and shiny!!
it's not too shiny but you can feel the oily residue.
how can I clean it up so it looks/feels like it did when it was clean?
[e39] OEM brake rotor life expectancy?18 Dec 2007 22:43 GMT14
I'm at 44k miles on my 530i.  Brake warning came on.  The shop is telling me
I need pads (that's a given), but also new front rotors.  There is a visible
groove on the edge of the rotor, so I know they're not lying.  They must be
very close to being done even if not totally done ...
BMW 740i Auto transmission problem18 Dec 2007 07:50 GMT18
Hugh:  thank you so much for your reply!!!
Let me be more specific:  my 1998 740i is an automatic transmission
and after I shift from park into Drive and press the accelerator, the
car slowly starts moving (not too slowly - if you are a passenger you
BMW Magazine / Roundel = one and the same???18 Dec 2007 07:22 GMT9
I recently subscribed to BMW roadside assistance in Canada. They gave me a
package deal, which included a 1-year subscription to "the magazine" (I
forget the name that they told me).
I expected "Roundel" to arrive, but what I received was "BMW Magazine". So
Keeping up with...17 Dec 2007 23:11 GMT34
My Dad!
Some may remember that I took in our tired '02 330 convert about a month ago
and walked out with a spanking new 335i convert.
Well, my Dad liked the car so much that day before yesterday (Wednesday) he
