Noise from rear my car28 Jan 2008 14:28 GMT10
Just recently I've noticed a droning noise that sounds like it's
coming from the rear of my car.  The frequency of the noise picks up
with speed and is unrelated to engine speed.  It's not a grinding and
I can hear it pretty much all the time while I'm moving.

There seems to be petrol fumes within the car - which seem to get
stronger when stopped in Traffic - has anybody else had this
problem??? Or know what it may be??

2001 325i - Battery used if radio is left on after car turned off28 Jan 2008 12:19 GMT11
I'm a new owner of a 2001 325i 4-door sedan with 103,000 miiles.  I've
joined the Owner's Cirlce, gotten the owner's manuals (car and
Business CD), etc.  The one quirky thing about the car is that if the
radio/cd is left on when the car is turned off, the battery gets
I thought gas was gas27 Jan 2008 09:30 GMT5
I thought the only important thing about gas was making sure the correct
octane was used for the car.   That the same gas was essentially used at all
stations.
Now this.

I am in a process of fitting distributerless ignition in my '87 BMW 316

Poltergeists? ....    My E39 unlocks itself at random. Any thoughts?24 Jan 2008 22:51 GMT4
2002 E39. I have recently been leaving it in a rented space in a lot
close to my home at night. Four times since I've begun using the lotI
have returned to find either the driver's door or all doors unlocked.
First, even the second, time, I figured I didn't lock it. But the next
Fan Belt24 Jan 2008 18:06 GMT7
When it is cold out and sometimes when it isnt the fan for my climate
control makes a rattling / squeking noise.  It goes away if I manually
change the speed higher but otherwise when it is around 0 or negative
it usually does this.
E34 Std Features23 Jan 2008 04:04 GMT2
I'm shopping for a '94 or '95 530i with a MT.  But I have noticed that there
seems to be conflicting information about passenger side airbags for '94
(all sources agree that dual front airbags were std for '95).  Can anyone
point me to a good source that will tell me what the ...
330ci : Brake disc needs replacement after 10,000 km ?!21 Jan 2008 21:44 GMT9
a BMT 330ci is in the workshop - they called and want to replace the
brake discs after less than 10000km. It is about 18 months old.
The car has been used occasionally within the city for short rides.
Waiting for days for the next usage, it is clear that the discs start
02 325i Air pump and diverter valve21 Jan 2008 17:25 GMT8
The check engine light came on so I took it into the shop..    Turns
out that theres a air pump and a diverter valve that inject into the
exhaust system to burn up extra hydro carbons.  They want to charge me
$550 for parts and labor ot replace both the pump and the valve.....
325 iX viscous coupler?21 Jan 2008 15:00 GMT5
I went to look at an 89 325 iX for sale today. I never saw an AWD BMW when I
worked on them 20 years ago in San Diego, but it snows here in Northern
California.
I was suspicious in testing when I could stop both front wheels idling in
3 series wheel differences21 Jan 2008 14:27 GMT5
I am aware that the wheel bolt pattern of the E36 is the same as the E46 but
how about arch clearances? Would the E36 and E36 M3 take 8X18 (225/40R18)
front and 8.5X18 (255/35R18) rear from an E46?
Fan Clutch21 Jan 2008 02:22 GMT9
My daughter has a '00 E46. I put new spark plugs in it today (Sat. 01/19)
because we got the car used at about 90k miles, and it now has 111k and we
don't really know the service history.
I noticed that I could stop (by bare hand) the fan from spinning, and it
