I took some time Saturday to talk with the folks at a local stereo
shop that was recommended by one of the regulars here. I'm concerned
about both sound quality and SPL, though the latter only to the extent
that I need to be able to hear the system at 80mph with the top down.

i've had an older model phoenix gold amp (ms275) running one jl-10w4
and even though the amp has plenty of air circulation, it still
overheats all the time.  i'm ready to buy a new amp.  i have narrowed
it down to the jl 500-1 or the phoenix gold ti800.1.  i know both are

I have a friend who is putting 8" subs in his doors.  He wants to install a
4" component set or coaxial in his dash (Chrysler vehicle with really deep
and luscious dash).
Problem is, who makes a decent 4" speaker set these days?  Any suggestions?

What is the best speaker placement for a 2000 Mustang  for components up
front, rear fill (if any needed?) and the subs (firing in cabin, up
through rear deck?)
Also anyone know of where I can get some pics of a top notch intall and

Anyone happen to have the owner's manual/install instructions for the
Pioneer GM-X404 amp?  I need at a minimum to know what plugs into where.

Anyone here used the Hifonics Brutus 1500Ds? Looking for some opinions on

car audio systems. My sister bought a pair of Infinity Kappa 63.5i's and I
told her I would install them figuring I would just take the old ones out
and put these in until I opened the box and the speakers ...

I'v just got myself a Nissan Sentra with a Clarion DRX5375R Radio/CD player.
I there anyway I can hook
it up to a Pioneer CDX-p1270 CD changer from my previous car?
I'm also wondering if the clarion player can be made to play VCDs

I am looking at an Alpine MRV-F303. Any thoughts on this unit?

The subject line basically says it all. I can't decide between getting a
set of MB Quart QSD216 and the Focal Utopia 165W. After reading a number
of reviews about both speakers I think I'd be happier with the Focals.

I just added a JL Audio 12w6 to a mustang convertible. What I'm getting now
is a lot of distortion due to the amount of pressure the speaker box is
pushing out. What I'm experiencing is that my trunk is vibrating right at
the middle to the point where it doesn't touch the trunk ...

fine of course. my question is more of what is different in the mass
produced cd's compared to the cdr's that i can burn? is it something to
do with the spec or the media? if it is the media, if i can find it ...
