| How well does MP3/AAC preserve low bass notes? | 22 Dec 2003 09:09 GMT | 5 |
I picked up a copy of "The Great Fantasy Adventure Album" (I think it's put out by Telarc?), which has a LOT of very low-frequency bass content. When I encode it to AAC, even at a relatively high bitrate, like 192 or 224 kbps, it seems like a good portion of the low

| one high powered 12" vs two 12" | 22 Dec 2003 02:49 GMT | 12 |
What would the major differences be between running two 250W rms 12" subs vs one 400W rms 12" sub. I am talking about powering it with 300W rms. Which one would give better SQ? Also I suppose the 300W amp will drive one sub better that two, is this

| connect dual voice coil to 2 channels | 21 Dec 2003 23:27 GMT | 10 |
How do I connect a dual 4 ohm voice coil sub to 2 channels? I want to bridge the 2 channels but I can't put the coils in parallel because the amp is only 2 ohm stable. Can I connect each of the coils to a channel? It is rated 100W per channel or 300W bridged.

| So what's the skinny on digital amps? | 21 Dec 2003 19:56 GMT | 7 |
I don't have any first-hand experience with "class D" digital amplifiers, but I saw an ad for a PowerAcoustik model that supposedly puts out 2300W RMS into one ohm, and costs just a little over $300. Even if they're wildly inflating the power numbers, that still sounds

| Bridging Sony mdx-c7900r? | 21 Dec 2003 18:40 GMT | 1 |
Is it possible to bridge the speaker outputs to drive two speakers instead of 4? If so, which are the connections that should be used? Rob.

| Wiring subs to receive 2 ohms | 21 Dec 2003 08:17 GMT | 6 |
My sub amplifier can provide power at 2 ohm stereo. I have 2 12" 900w max 4ohm subs. Currently I have them running at 4ohms. I decided to try them at 2 ohms from the amp (which is 420w RMS x2) I was very happy with the result. Not sure if they were any louder but the lower

| Areas to cover for most effective interior noise reduction? | 21 Dec 2003 06:40 GMT | 3 |
Looking for opinions on which areas to cover for noise reduction in the cabin of a SUV. The goal is to increase the pick-up of the microphone on my handsfree kit. So I'm not looking to cover the entire cabin with dampening material. Please rank areas in

| 12inch JLW3 v2 Cubic ? | 21 Dec 2003 05:57 GMT | 4 |
Just purchased a 12 inch JLW3 v2 sub and have available 150wrms bridged output. The manufacturer's recommendation for box size is 1.25cubic ft and sub is rated at 300wrms.

| Power wire guage | 21 Dec 2003 01:25 GMT | 29 |
I installed a 10" sub w/box and a 300 watt bridged amp last night in my car. I'm having problems with the amplifier cutting out and going into overload protection. It does this for 2 or 3 seconds, then kicks in again. The louder I turn up the volume, the worse it gets.

| Testing audio equipment | 20 Dec 2003 23:52 GMT | 11 |
When running a DC transformer to test car audio at 12V is it different to what comes out of the battery, I have a 12V power supply at 1 Amp. Would it be possible to use this to run an amp and sub? Thankyou

| Comparing Pioneer Subs | 20 Dec 2003 20:44 GMT | 6 |
Assuming my amp supplies 300 watts RMS, and I put each sub in the size enclosure recommended: What do you guys think about the differences between the Pioneer TS-W304C or the TS-W305C. I have the 304 now, and it sounds good, but

| Midbass stereo separation...? | 20 Dec 2003 19:28 GMT | 1 |
I have 2 midbass up front with image dynamics compression drivers for my front soundstage. In the rear quarter panels I have a second pair of midbass, playing from 65-350Hz. Sub plays mono 20-65 Hz Question... do the rear 1/4 panel speakers need to be playing in stereo,

| Sound Difference of 4x6" and 5.25" | 20 Dec 2003 07:05 GMT | 3 |
I'm looking at upgrading the stereo in my 2000 Jeep Wrangler and stopped by a shop today and asked a couple of questions. I was told that a 4x6" oval speaker will not sound any different than a 5.25" round speaker. Is this true or is the guy just trying to blow smoke up my a$$? ...
