2 deck quandry16 Dec 2003 14:49 GMT9
Hey guys,
I'm an Avionics tech, not an audio installer, so I know enough about
electronics to be dangerous to myself in car audio. LOL! A buddy want to
keep his factory deck and install a separate cd player. Dunno why, but he
Need good, cheap car stereo setup.  Please help.16 Dec 2003 09:36 GMT24
Forgive me . . . I don't know much about this stuff.  Just asking for
advice.
I just got a 1996 Mustang.  The stereo system in it is horrible.  I
don't want a system that is anything incredibly loud or with huge
JVC MP3 Car Stereo has no Pause button, tiny controls & only 8 text chars ? Glad it's cheap.16 Dec 2003 09:17 GMT9
I just got a JVC MP3 car stereo ( KDSX990 ) & I'm glad it was cheap
($179 at Circuit City) since it has some major flaws.
This will be the last time I trust the product reviews on their site &

Install question on Jeep Wrangler16 Dec 2003 09:05 GMT8
Talked to the local car audio shop (good reputation locally) about
replacing my '04 Wrangler soft-top's factory stereo system with a decent
deck and speakers.  Looking at an Alpine CDA-9815 with the XM radio
option, plus 4 Alpine speakers in the factory locations (either side of
Do Nakamichi models allow you to change the FM frequency step?16 Dec 2003 08:37 GMT1
I would like to purchase a Nakamichi deck in the States and use it
overseas. Do their models allow you to change the default FM frequency
step from 200KHz to 50KHz?
All current Clarion models allow you to do this by pressing two buttons
What is Q-factor?16 Dec 2003 06:54 GMT10
Just got Kenwood X569 installed, and started tinkering around with controls.
What is Q-factor and how should I be setting it for bass, mid and treble? Is
it something determined by speakers?
Thx!

I bought my daughter a radio/cd player for Christmas. I am going to try
removing the old radio and installing the new in her car. It's a 2001
Pontiac Grand AM. Any advice on how to remove the old radio etc?
 Sure would appreciate any advice.
Installing component speakers.....16 Dec 2003 05:42 GMT7
Hey, I was wondering if the average car audio shop charges more to install
components than they would to install a regular set of speakers.  I'm getting a
deck for Christmas, and it looks like I'll be getting some cash to get a set of
speakers for the front of my car... I really ...

mp3 sound quality.16 Dec 2003 04:16 GMT66
I have noticed that original audio cds sound better than even high quality
mp3's. this is especially true when playing it in my car on my mids and
tweeters. They claim that the difference in mp3 and cd audio cannot be
heard. Any comments?

AMP mounting in a VW- Help Paul!16 Dec 2003 01:24 GMT2
Paul, I seem to remember you having some experience with VWs, namely the
Golf/GTi. I want to remove the amp and factory CD changer from the little
storage cubby they reside in (they're disconnected anyway), in my hatch. I want
to know if it's possible to mount an aftermarket amp in ...

I want to install a CD/MP3 player in a big truck. Anyone have any input
on a brand/model of unit that can stand that kind of constant vibration,
without skipping.
advice on 6x9 replacement15 Dec 2003 23:46 GMT4
I replaced the 4" dash speakers recently with kenwood coax--they are nice
and
bright, and the back 6x9's are quite muddy in the deck. However, it seems
that replacing the 6x9 factory single cone with coax would be too trebley.

Well, I just bought a new S10 and went with the AM/FM Stereo w/no CD because
I was just going to put in an aftermarket system.  I have heard some
conflicting information on this and hope someone can give me a definate
answer.  I was told that I would have to relocate the factory ...
