looking for audiophile installers in southern california07 Jan 2004 00:39 GMT2
I'm looking for an audiophile level installer in southern california.
I'm not looking for flash, I'm looking for someone who can take the
components I buy and install them as accurately as possible and every
move you make is in the name of sound quality and not flashing lights.

Will this work?06 Jan 2004 21:30 GMT2
A Phoenix Gold MS-275 amp going to a 4 ohm passive tri-mode crossover
with 200Hz highpass and 120Hz lowpass.  If the front speakers are 4
ohm and sub is 8 ohm which way would the frequency change for the low
pass?  And if the sub is 2 ohm?    Also, could I use an equalizer to
Help Needed (Subwoofer)06 Jan 2004 18:50 GMT2
Without starting up another huge debate on what direction to 'aim' a
subwoofer, I have a specific sub-question:
What happens if I fire my sub into the floor?
I've noticed on a lot of higher-end home theater towers and subs that

i was calling around for shops selling Alpine HUs when a particular shop
told me audiobahn is an alpine product.  is this true?  if so, is audiobahn
a higher end branch of Alpine or vice versa?

Sony fmm010 install blue/white wires06 Jan 2004 16:08 GMT1
I just bought a used prosony fm modulator on Ebay. There are the
"normal" rca plugs and antenna connections. However for the power
supply there is only a clip with a blue and a white wire. I thought
both blue and white are +. Does anyone know how i should configure
CD changer interface plug query06 Jan 2004 15:30 GMT44
Hi, I have a 96 Honda Accord with the standard Honda head unit. I have been
told these are a rebadged Alpine - can anyone confirm?  There is an 8 pin
DIN plug labelled "CHG" and the front panel controls are labeled for CD
fuctions.
Xtant or ADS or?   perhaps a serious thread?06 Jan 2004 13:48 GMT5
Well, I have a new car, 2k1 Impala, and I will be adding a 4 channel amp to
the thing.  Planning on some components for the front (6.5") and some
Audiobahn 692Q's in the rear for fill.  Anyway, I will be putting 1   4
channel amp in the car and really have a liking for the Xtant ...
Switch on the crossover...06 Jan 2004 07:39 GMT4
I'm curious if anyone could tell me what the switch inside the crossovers of
the Directed Audio S650 components is for.  I noticed it while installing, and
its kinda bugging me since it says nothing about it in the manual.

Changing the polarity?06 Jan 2004 06:37 GMT4
I was scrolling through some old RAC posts, and noticed a post about someone's
Diamond tweeters being too bright for their tastes, and Paul suggested
switching the speaker wires at either the amp or the crossover on the passenger
side and see if that helps.
can't find a small sub box06 Jan 2004 04:16 GMT8
I'm interesting in an IDQ10 sub which apparently likes to be in a sealed
box with a volume between 0.3 and 0.6 cu ft.  I can't seem to find any
premade ones that fit into this category (smallest is a Q-Logic 0.65).
Since I have the woodworking skills of Homer Simpson, would it be a ...
brand name reliability?06 Jan 2004 03:06 GMT15
Hi all, I'm after a very basic CD/tuner unit + speaker set. Have been
doing the phone rounds of the local car audio shops and am getting a
little concerned. One chain store (Strathfield car radio) have a basic
Sony unit (model forgotten) that looks like it would do the job plus
Why aren't there more 2-ohm speakers?06 Jan 2004 02:57 GMT22
A discussion in another forum about using transformers to
impedance-match speakers with amplifiers got me thinking-
Since most car audio amps are 2-ohm stable in stereo, and have been
for quite some time, why aren't there more 2-ohm speakers?  I'm not
