Door Panel Resonant Frequency Determination27 Feb 2004 03:13 GMT13
For door panels made of ordinary ferris metal (mild steel):
Take a voice coil, preferable a large one from a sub.  Solder some
speaker wire leads to it.  Use a stand with a large aligator clip to
position and hold the voice coil near the exposed metal door skin,
Using Notebook Computer as Car MP3 Player27 Feb 2004 02:26 GMT44
I was going to go out and buy an IPOD for playing music during long
drives, then caught up with how small and light notebook computers
have become and am considering using a notebook instead (need a new
computer anyway).  For example, a new IBM is under 3 lbs. and has
DIN mount MP3 Jukebox?27 Feb 2004 01:35 GMT11
I've been googling around looking for an MP3 Jukebox that
mounts in a normal DIN slot (like the RIO Car), but all the
ones I can find (Dension, Neo, Phat-whatever) all show them
being trunk-mounted and never mention moutning in a DIN form
Kenwood deck blacking out when it rains27 Feb 2004 01:22 GMT3
Hi, I have a Kenwood MP3 deck that came with my 2003 F-150 truck. This
winter it has started to black out when it rains, heavy fog develops,
or if there is a lot of dew or moisture in the air. I had some
amplifiers installed but have been assured several times by the
using a 12dB bass boost with 2 10"27 Feb 2004 00:33 GMT5
I am running one 8-ohm 10" sub off a bridged amp which supplies 300W rms. I
will be adding a second identical 10" sub and will wire it in parallel to
create a 4-ohm load.
At the moment the one sub performs nice and produces good sounding bass but
"Bassiest" component 6.5-inchers for 03 Civic Si hatch26 Feb 2004 22:38 GMT11
Hey, y'all.
I want to change out my front speakers.  I don't want to fill up half
the hatch with a sub, so I'd like something with some decent punch.
(Those $170 BassLinks on eBay are tempting, tho...)  I don't listen to
CD stuck in player26 Feb 2004 21:27 GMT2
I've got a JVC CD deck (I believe its a KD-S580) and the CD is stuck in
the player right now.  If I hit "eject", the disc does not come out.  I
can play the CD that's in there (it doesn't play after I hit "eject",
alhtough if I turn the unit off and on it will play again).
how to control gain of paralleled speakers.26 Feb 2004 16:18 GMT1
I bought a pair of cheap 6x9's that I want to use for rear fill. They will
replace the factory rears that are currently in there. I want to run them in
parallel with my kenwood splits that is in the front.
Problem is that the 6x9's have a sensitivity of 92 while kenwoods have

Unfortunately I bought this amp before I found this newsgroup.
What do you think?

Audiovox LCD Overhead -- Good Quality???26 Feb 2004 06:52 GMT2
My experiences with Audiovox are old, but back in the day I hated
everything they made.  The Audiovox Overhead LCDs for in the car
installation are being recommended to me and I'm having a hard time
believing that they are a good thing.
making you own RCA's26 Feb 2004 03:08 GMT18
I saw the huge arguing about the RCA cables. I would like to know a few
things:
1. How bout using thick wires (like flex) - thicker = less resistance =
better sq, right? please correct me if wrong.
What qualifies as a good install, or a correct installation?26 Feb 2004 02:06 GMT3
Theres alot of talk around the forum about how so much of the soun
quality of a system is dependent on the install, which I believe i
true. Some say it's 10% equipment, 90% install, there are alot o
opinions going around. My question is, what is considered to be
Dash Kits and wiring Harness26 Feb 2004 01:32 GMT5
I have a 2003 Jetta and I am looking to transfer my 1din radio into it.  I
am looking for a wiring harness so I do not have to modify the stock harness
to hook up my radio.  Also I think I need an antenna adapter to go from a
euro plug to the north-American type.  Also the actual ...
MP3 CD changer question: Help me do something strange.26 Feb 2004 01:08 GMT2
I have a Ford Aerostar that I would like to upgrade for MP3 CD
playback.  Here's my weird plan: install an MP3-compatible CD changer
with FM broadcast, and have the option of listening via the factory
radio or on personal FM headphone receivers.  This would allow some
looking for off the shelf dc amplifier25 Feb 2004 18:58 GMT3
