| Converting car stereo to home stereo | 23 Feb 2004 07:02 GMT | 9 |
Hi, I sold my car and have kept the Car CD/Stereo and would like to convert it for use in my garage. Anyone have any suggestions of how to go about this? I was hoping to pick up speakers at a garage sale and find a way to power the system up that isn't too involved or costly.

Presently, I have a Pioneer DEH-7500MP cd player in my pickup. It supposedly has a mosfet amplifier, 50 watts, I think. I have no idea what does mosfet mean. I am thinking about adding a subwoofer. Do I need to buy a separate

| FS: Eclipse 5342r head unit $89 | 23 Feb 2004 04:44 GMT | 2 |
This unit is used but works fine. I think it originally came with a remote, but I don't have it. Let's see...it has three pairs of RCA outputs - front rear sub. 4v output. The sub output is level adjustable AND has a phase control. Rotary knob. CD-Rs always worked. There are ...

| perfect sub setup | 23 Feb 2004 01:26 GMT | 3 |
The way I get it each size subwoofer (10", 12", 15") has its own unique qualities and that say a 15" is not "better" than a 12" or 10". A bigger sub will play lower frequencies better while two 10" subs of similar power will hit harder.

| blew my sub | 21 Feb 2004 16:26 GMT | 17 |
I guess I was feeding my IDQ10 sub too many watts because it now can't produce even moderate levels of bass without distorting. I've tested it with a home amplifier just to make sure and it sounds equally as bad. It puts out like a whizzing/tweeting noise constantly and can't ...
