Converting car stereo to home stereo23 Feb 2004 07:02 GMT9
Hi, I sold my car and have kept the Car CD/Stereo and would like to
convert it for use in my garage.  Anyone have any suggestions of how to
go about this? I was hoping to pick up speakers at a garage sale and
find a way to power the system up that isn't too involved or costly.
Adding subwoofer, do I need an AMP with MOSFET built in23 Feb 2004 06:20 GMT5
Presently, I have a Pioneer DEH-7500MP cd player in my pickup.
It supposedly has a mosfet amplifier, 50 watts, I think. I have no
idea what does mosfet mean.
I am thinking about adding a subwoofer. Do I need to buy a separate
just put in my sub!23 Feb 2004 05:17 GMT1
I just installed my first sub into my car. Its a very cheap one ($9) 10"
with a 175W nominal rating and 350W max rating. I am very pleased with it.
It is actually a disco sub which is 8-ohm. I can't wait to put in another
one.
FS: Eclipse 5342r head unit $8923 Feb 2004 04:44 GMT2
This unit is used but works fine.  I think it originally came with a remote,
but I don't have it.  Let's see...it has three pairs of RCA outputs - front
rear sub.  4v output.  The sub output is level adjustable AND has a phase
control.  Rotary knob.  CD-Rs always worked.  There are ...

I have a 1984 model Delco 2000 ETR AM/FM car radio.  Anyone know if
this radio uses 4 or 8 ohm speakers?  I don't have the manual, nor is
it stated anywhere on the body of the radio.

I received a gift of this Sony receiver (Xplod 52w x4) from a
relative, but it came without the mounting sleeve and the previous
owner can't find it.  Anyone know how I can get one?
Thanks!
what is this rockford sub?23 Feb 2004 03:43 GMT3
I saw an ad in the paper for this sub
RFZ12, 12'', boxed, with all cables included
Then I also saw an MTX roadthunder 200watts RMS is this sub worth it
(considering I only want to but one sub)
perfect sub setup23 Feb 2004 01:26 GMT3
The way I get it each size subwoofer (10", 12", 15") has its own unique
qualities and that say a 15" is not "better" than a 12" or 10". A bigger sub
will play lower frequencies better while two 10" subs of similar power will
hit harder.
Inverter - what's that???22 Feb 2004 14:34 GMT2
I've quite old Sony cassete player.. with 2 pre amp outputs, 2 FM inputs and

There is no TS parameters available for it.

Will an air leak in a sealed enclosure harm a sub?21 Feb 2004 17:14 GMT6
I have been building a sealed fiberglass enclosure for my IDQ 10" this past
week, and when I tested it out, I noticed I have an air leak somewhere. I tried
some silocone sealant in a couple spots where I thought the leak might have
occured... (The only 2 places it could possibly be ...

blew my sub21 Feb 2004 16:26 GMT17
I guess I was feeding my IDQ10 sub too many watts because it now can't
produce even moderate levels of bass without distorting.  I've tested it
with a home amplifier just to make sure and it sounds equally as bad.  It
puts out like a whizzing/tweeting noise constantly and can't ...
