Selecting Subs Any ideas??08 Apr 2004 22:44 GMT1
Ok I just sold both of my JL Audio 12W7s and I was looking for a new setup
for my 2001 pathfinder. I want to look for something that kinda musical and
still gets some good spl. willing to spend about 900 on the subs but not if

More SPL08 Apr 2004 21:27 GMT4
I have 2 Alpine Type R 10's in a sealed enclosure (1 cu ft per
woofer).  I have a Lanzar 16002c Rackmount amplifier.  (It's rated at
2 x 400 WRMS at 4 ohms, 2 x 720 WRMS at 2 ohms).  I am unsure if this
amp is rated correctly, however.  I want more SPL.  I was thinking of
S/PDIF?08 Apr 2004 20:38 GMT6
So I was thinking of getting a line driver to interface between my computer
and amplifiers, because the sound card output is rather low and, on my sub
amp at least, the gain is at the max (and I could afford to go a little
higher with it).  However, I evidently have an S/PDIF output ...

when i check out the amount of preamp outputs on the back of head
units, i see that the outputs are either 2-volt or 4-volt. i think
that 2volt is the regular naked wire in the normal plastic shell, and
4volt is whats commonly called RCA cables (the red, white and yellow

Help Needed:  Speaker Wiring Questions08 Apr 2004 15:56 GMT3
I may be self-installing my second system in the next few months and I'm
starting my planning now.  My first system I installed 8 years ago and for
whatever reason I've forgotten a LOT, so please forgive any stupidity:
I will be using at least some Infinity Kappa 6x9s, possibly ...
Stiffening Cap08 Apr 2004 12:50 GMT6
I have a small .5 farad cap left over from a small sub I took out of
my old Honda. I want to add a small sub and this cap into another car.
The cap worked fine, it was just that I seemed to have to charge the
thing periodically, for dumb things I did. Like leave the lights on,
AVIC-X108 Apr 2004 08:58 GMT2
Hi, I'm not sure if this is the correct newsgroup to post in so
apologies if it's not!
I have my eye on the new Pioneer AVIC-X1 navigation system. It's
either out now, or should be in the next couple of days.  Does anyone
Simple install question08 Apr 2004 05:22 GMT1
I just got my 2003 Explorer and starting to poke around in the interior
before I start my install. Simple question: is the trim panel around the
factory radio (looks like a simulated carbon-fiber overlay) held in by
clips, pins, adhesive, ???? I was able to get my nails under the ...

How can I test a cd player to be sure it works without having to install the

Loss of Sensitivity, Not Antenna07 Apr 2004 20:40 GMT2
Hello, All,
Is there any reason a modern FM car tuner should lose sensitivity
over time that's not related to the antenna?  I have a '99 Passat
with a stock VW radio.  When I first got it, I was astonished at
MP3 player in car07 Apr 2004 18:18 GMT3
I was thinking of buying an mp3 player and palying it through my car
stereo.  I heard the FM transmitters were bad  Is that so?
Also, how are the cassette tapes that allow you to play mp3s though the
tape deck?
New CD player wont turn on!07 Apr 2004 17:03 GMT2
My husband and I bought an 84 Bronco a few months ago. For a bit of
background, it had a factory radio, not even a tape player. And it worked
fine, but didnt light up at all (along with a few other things) when the
headlights were on. So anyway I just installed the new cd player we ...
