I putting together a new system...and I need some advice.
I'm planning on replacing my front 5.25's and rear 6 X9 's with Alpines.
I'm also planning on a sub (1 or 2 I'm not sure yet).
I'm also getting an Alpine 4 channel amp (MRP-F240)
Newbie Question - why an amp?07 Jan 2005 17:13 GMT35
What's the benefit of having an amp hooked up to your car stereo.
I'm not trolling.  :)
Please be gentle,

Does the Ipod come with some kind of dockin unit for the car that I can plug
into the IP-BUS cable instead of a CD changer or do I have to use an FM
transmitter?
DIN Removal Tool In, but Won't Come Out06 Jan 2005 19:16 GMT1
I bought a DIN removal tool to make sure I could easily remove the OEM
radio from my Ford Focus before I consider my replacement options. The
tool slid right in, clicked into place. I pried the handles outward and
the radio slid right out. Slick system. It looks like it'll be easy ...
Old School Hifonics Pluto VIII Amp....06 Jan 2005 18:17 GMT2
My friend gave this amp to me, it's a 70W RMS 2 channel amp (35x2 @ 4
ohm). It's got a white casing, and the PCB inside has sept 3 92 printed
on it, so it's a bit old. My friend kinda gave me the impression it was
crappy.

I have a '99 Chrysler 300M with the Infinity system, which is a 240W
(ha, ha), seven speaker system; Chrysler/Infinity radio/CD head unit,

front door, a 2in midrange tweeter in the sail panels (one per front
Which wire does a headunit draw power from?06 Jan 2005 02:04 GMT4
I'm guessing that the ignition ACC switched wire only acts as a turn on
lead to signal the headunit to turn on, and the unswitched yellow
battery wire is used as the main power source. Can anyone confirm this?
Blaupunkt Casablanca MP54 - Display with AUX IN05 Jan 2005 08:41 GMT1
I recently bought a Blaupunkt Casablanca MP54 and use the AUX IN for my
iPod.  When putting the Casablanca into AUX IN mode, the entire diplay
shows only AUX IN.  Does anyone know if it is possible to have the
display show the clock in one form or another when using the AUX IN?
Question on wiring for AU Falcon Head Unit05 Jan 2005 05:36 GMT1
Does anyone have the colourcoding for the head unit in a series 2 AU Falcon.
It's the head unit with both tape player and CD Tuner combined. I would like
to know what the wire colours are for the rear channel which is currently
not used and also whether the unit can be connected ...
starting my own installation business05 Jan 2005 01:01 GMT2
I am an installer with over eight year's experience. I'm considering
striking out on my own and starting my own business.
If you have started your own automotive accessories installation
business, I have a few questions and was hoping some of you could help
alarm question.04 Jan 2005 06:42 GMT2
I have a 2003 Buick Regal and want to put in an alarm.  Thing is, I don't
want to lose the stock features I do have.  Keyless entry, keyless trunk
latch, lights come on when keyless unlocked, lights stay on after keyless
lock for 30 seconds.
Sony car head unit flashes but won't power on04 Jan 2005 06:41 GMT1
Sony XR-C750 head unit (AM/FM/cassette).
The unit won't power on. When I press the power button, it tries to come to
life; once a second the display flashes to life (dimly) and goes off again.
Is this a common problem with that era Sony's (c.1997-8)?
JVC Head Problems04 Jan 2005 04:17 GMT3
My sister picked up a JVC head unit from Best Buy to replace Sony unit that was
ripped out by some crack head (funny story actually, he accidentally called her
house with the stolen cell from her car and left a message on her machine. We
could hear him trying to negotiate a deal for ...
